*Official* English Football Season 2008-2009

First season he went there, with Duff and Robben on the wings, they played some superb football. Once he had a chance to impart his own stamp on the side, IMO they were never as good to watch.

Hate Chesterfield. Bastards.

And Chester, who have been **** all season, are beating Brentford 3-0... just ready to play us on Saturday. Typical.

For all those concerned by Adams' record at Wycombe, may I point out that he never really played lower-division football as a player, and it stands to reason that he would struggle to get to grips with it as a manager.

Many managers have made successes of bigger jobs as their first in management - look at Jurgen Klinsmann with Germany, or Marco van Basten with Holland. Personally, I think it's a great appointment, especially given that the alternatives were Sam Allardyce and Avram Grant.
Wycombe were tactically inept though, under his stewardship. I don't actually think Mitchell is right in saying that they had a decent squad, he inherited a load of **** from Sanchez. But the team was disorganised. It was a long time ago, and hopefully (for your sake) he has learnt a lot since then, but I don't think it matters what level you're at, if you do a bad job you do a bad job.

Additionally, the referee was a wanker tonight, and Mitchell's lot have borrowed Adnan Ahmed from us. Let me know if he's any good, I've seen him play about 12 minutes since we signed him.

Only one i could remember was Tyson who was actually good, plus they did enough to beat us 1-0 at theirs when i saw them. I've seen a Tony Adams side win, which is more than Portsmouth fans will be able to say for a couple of months.

By all accounts, the sturdiness of our defence last season was mostly down to Adams. Basically, anyone who's had a part in coaching the team during the most successful season the club's had in almost 60 years has to have been doing something right. I'm throwing my support behind Big Tone, the club needs a man who can unite the fans once again after Harry's (second) acrimonious departure.

Interestingly, he got a mixed reception when receiving the key to the city today along with the FA Cup-winning squad. Not surprised in the slightest, thought it'd be worse than it was. Not sure why they still had to invite him TBH, I bet they didn't invite Sulley Muntari or Pedro Mendes. Could have ended badly if some **** had done something stupid.

Equally interestingly and predictably, he wants to buy half the Pompey squad - again, equally predictably, every man and his dog at Pompey is telling him where to stick his money. Be surprised if Spurs give him the money he'd need to get Crouch or Defoe, TBH - Diarra is the only one I can realistically see going. And he's the one I had to go and get on my shirt a month ago. :@

Couldn't see Defoe back at Spurs so quickly, also couldn't see Crouch back at Spurs given they didn't really give him a shot back in the day.

Was this in Adams' second season, might have been better than when they were a division lower?

Hey Smitteh, was reading my Tranmere fanzine last night, turns out that at the Masters final there was a fight between Citeh and Tranmere fans. I therefore challenge you to a duel.

Blaming myself. Finally dumped the big-time Charlie **** from my dream team, so obviously....

Lovely strike tbf and the Spurts have done a job on us so far.

EDIT: Silvestre! :D If there's one way for an ex-Manure player to win hearts and minds it's scoring versus T*ttenham.
