From all reports Reading were unlike themselves last season. Wasn't able to watch it because my dad delayed in subscribing.

They wanted one point, they got one point; United fell into Arsenal's usual trap and tried to become far too intricate around the area.

More disgusting behaviour by a referee at the end of the match though. United were awarded a free-kick from about 20 yards out with less than five seconds of stoppage time remaining. The referee then allowed the shot to be taken (over the bar) before blowing up for full time. I wish they'd have the bottle to do what I do when I'm reffing, i.e. blowing up when time is out, regardless of where the ball is. No-one can complain with that.

Think the fans would complain more than anything. You can always find an excuse to add on fifteen seconds when there's something happening. No particular team benefits from it as it all comes down to who has the ball at the time... think it's fine, really.

We lost 3-2:(

But I think City put on a decent performance.
Lapses in the back line now and then.
But its a difficult task to go to Stamford Bridge and score 2 goals:)
I thought the Chavs were far from convincing tbh, Birmingham impressed me.

ah well i've seen better season openers @ old trafford, wasn't money wasted.

Rooney's injury wasn't even noticeable when it happened, but now that the full extent is understood its bloody disheartening. His absence will hurt England alot more in this crucial period of Euro qualification.

Was making bloody plans to see my first game @ Wembley vs the germans but with Rooney out & the chances that Owen & Becks may not be fit enough i might as well squash it.

Reading played negative football, and crowded the box for most of the game, but that's expected with weaker sides coming to Old Trafford...and we really have to find ways through the defence because it's going to happen alot more. I'm confident we can, not alot went our way last night. Sad to see Rooney is out for so long, but Saha and Solskjaer are on the road to recovery and Tevez will cover us in the meantime. Big match against Pompey this week, can't wait. And then of course, City. It'll be a big one. City fans are as ****y as they have ever been....

Carrick was brilliant last night too. He is proving to be worth every cent we paid for him.

Carrick did well from midfield, possibly the only one with good balls into the box. Evra on the left didnt work, and this swapping giggs/ronaldo on the wings would work if, and its a big thing to ask, after 15 years of being payed thousands a week, ryan actually tried to use his right foot. You know, modern day legend, surely a bit of two footedness isnt to much to ask

Full credit to Reading keeper, won them the point IMO.

And the red card was harsh.
