Indeed - glad I didn't bother going to the pub to watch it - sounds like nothing's changed with this new manager.

Thank god Joe Cole is near fitness.

It is the first time in 10 years that England have won their opening two games in a qualifying campaign

Italy busy proving they're the worst world champions since the last time they won it.
To be fair most of the players have yet to kick a ball in anger. Season does not start until the weekend but there is no excuse for their **** up against Lithuania, who looked pretty substandard against the Scots earlier.

I don't get why after an hour we started playing a deep 4-5-1 system against the mighty Macedonia. Stevie paid too much attention to Sven over the years?

it was depressingly svenesque when we went one up, hopeful punts out of defence aimed for a 4ft6 striker because the other one was playing as an auxillary midfielder

Steve McClaren said that no one is guaranteed a place, someone should ask why Frank Lampard is currently playing then…
didn't watch the whole game but he didn't look too bad tonight.

I think you are being a bit too harsh with McClaren, in his 3 games so far its clear he is trying to do this different in the side.

FFS Talksport having a football phone after this game. Nothing worth talking about, we won, we played crap. Been doing that for the best part of six years, no need to take ‘The Voice of Reason’ off for something you could easily digest on, for fifteen minutes.

Elsewhere great result for the Northern Irish, the papists will be celebrating tonight...
