Toughest Group there is group A, Two champions and one runner up. and trips to Bulgaria arent that easy for teams like Barca or Chelsea

In the UEFA Cup Basel only managed to scrape past Liechtenstein side Vaduz on away goals. It would have been a little embarassing to lose to them considering they play in the Swiss second tier.

The Luke Wilkshire curse strikes FC Twente with his new side losing out to Levadia of Estonia 2-1 on aggregate.

Oh and for the compulsory English content Newcastle drew 0-0 at home to Ventspils without a striker 8-) to go through 1-0 on agg.

Good group for United, looking foward to the Chelsea/Barcelona battle again, if the blue's can get to full strenght by then, i'd tip them to overcome Barca this time.

Chuffed with our group, and laughing somewhat at Chelsea (even though Chelsea will qualify, if they come 2nd it complicates matters for them when it gets to the knock-out stages).

We did. That has nothing to do with whether we will do this year though. The fact is, given our group, the chances are we'll finish 1st.

If they'd a proper striker they'd have nearly hit double figures.

As shown by his record of 51 goals in 188 league games...
Well he played left wing for more than half of those games but I'm sure if you look at his record as a CF it would equate much better. His an immensely talented player who would score goals if used correctly but Newcastle much like their handling of Jon Dahl Tomasson having wasted him. Expect the same sort of results from Martins.

It's still a blow, is it not? Surely your team would be better with them in it?
that is a dubious claim, cole certainly is the best left back in the world or one of them, but arsenal have had most of their sucess in the last year with him absent, funnily enough the only champions league game past the group stages in which cole played, arsenal went on to lose, as for pires his form and performances have dropped considerably with his advancing age and is not the player he was, rosicky however in the world cup showed what a talent he was, and illustrated that he was more than a competent replacement. I dont think pires will be missed, cole perhaps more so, but its not a tremendous blow to lose either of them, certainly not if cole goes for a good price and gallas comes in, which as it happens is looking increasingly more likely.
