Yes, and the evidence is hardly compelling.
He's not exactly a proven first team player, if I'm correct he never played a first team game for Barcelona. Before you say anything about that Fabregas didn't either I'm sure. So to perform creditably augurs well for his future.

As far as Arsenal are concerned, how is losing Pires and in all probability Cole "lost none of that team"?
considering neither of them played a great deal of last season, i would say that is a fair enough claim.

Tasty forearm smash by Ben Thatcher and with are ridiculous rules about already being booked he may get off with it. Hopefully Pedro is feeling a little bit better this morning...

I've just seen that for the first time - absolutely horrible. One of the worst challenges I've seen a long time - I hope he gets banned for a large number of games, providing the stupid FA rules allow it. :@

The jumping stamp on Gigg's leg last week was worse, same situation there as well with Michael Brown getting a yellow for it - he just basically tried to break his leg just because the turd got nutmegged by Giggs a little earlier. Instead of these 'people' being banned for a long time (3 games would be a joke) they don't even get banned - farcical.

FA say they are going to look into it so I think he will be punished. It was a quite dreadfull, one of the worst pieces of thugary i have ever seen in football.

Norwood's on Fire
The FA gave Jamie Redknapp a ban a few years back, for a tackle he only received a booking for. They broke their own rules then, and have brushed it under the carpet since.

A referee's red cards can be rescinded, so their yellows should surely be upgraded if appropriate.

It's still a blow, is it not? Surely your team would be better with them in it?

Champions League - Group Stage Draw.

Group A: BARCELONA, Chelsea, Werder Bremen, Levski Sofia

Group B: INTER MILAN, Bayern Munich, Sporting Lisbon, Spartak Moscow

Group C: LIVERPOOL, PSV Eindhoven, Bordeaux, Galatasaray

Group D: VALENCIA, Roma, Olympiakos, Shakhtar Donetsk

Group E: REAL MADRID, Lyon, Steaua Bucharest, Dynamo Kiev

Group F: MANCHESTER UNITED, Celtic, Benfica, FC Copenhagen

Group G: ARSENAL, Porto, CSKA Moscow, Hamburg

Group H: AC MILAN, Lille, AEK Athens, Anderlecht

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Barcelona and Chelsea meet a little earlier this time around. I take it that seperates them until the final if both progress from the group and through the knockout stages?

Manchester United draw Benfica again with a 'Battle of Britain' fluff tie thrown in as well.

Pretty chuffed with our group. Think we've got off fairly lightly. Liverpool must be reasonably pleased too.
Maybe I’m too pessimistic and fail to realise what good teams Arsenal and Liverpool doubtlessly are but I think both groups are real potential banana skins. CSKA Moscow away were be tricky tie, especially with the weather and the fact that CSKA are a pretty good unit anyhow. Hamburger SV also have spent a great amount of money in the recent years and any club which can attract Vincent Kompany, must be heading in the right direction. Also the fact that Arsenal’s defence currently does look very brittle.

Whereas Liverpool will come up against three competent/decent sides, who could all give them a game. Girondins de Bordeaux are having a bit of upturn of fortunes, Micoud has gone back and the enigma which is Stephanie Dalmat has also signed on. Galatasaray SK are hindered with the Turkish citizen ruling and with Turkish football in a whole is going through a low they could be an easier proposition but at home it they are still a hard nut to crack. Whereas PSV might have got rid of one of their 'best' defenders recently and Ronald Koeman is no Guus Hiddink but Arouna Kone and Farfan are ****ing electric up top and could easily tear Liverpool’s slow defence to pieces.

Can not wait, absolutely love Champions League nights.

Chelsea are the only ones with a difficult group, you'd expect them to get through though.
Werder are a good side but I do think they stock as a club has greatly been inflated. There manager is very astute and the team play a very physical and direct style but whenever I have seen them play against any side with good technical quality they have struggled. Barcelona and Chelsea should realistically progress without much trouble.
