Crouch & Owen will start up front, that formation you've got there would be utter suicide against Brazil. You have to stop them from having the ball, you can't just soak up pressure for 90mins.
I believe the side will look like this:

Robinson
Carragher
Terry
King
Shorey
Beckham
Lampard
Gerrard
J Cole
Owen
Smith

Ah, Smithy getting a start, happy with that.

However, Nicky Shorey vs Brazil could be carnage. There is absolutely no way in Hell he deserves to be an England player.

Man U sign Nani and Anderson...:-O

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/m/man_utd/6706423.stm

If Man U can get themselves a striker then they would have the resonates of a bloody good side. According to reports Luca Toni was one of Ferguson's main targets but he signed with FC Bayern this afternoon.

Anyways cracking coups from Untied nevertheless. I've seen a bit of Nani and he looks special, not seen much of Anderson other than the odd fleeting Champions League appearance but his rated very highly and should feature for Brazil against England this coming week.
Seen Anderson and he looks good. Been dubbed the 'new Ronaldino' which must mean the real Ronaldinho a has been then

I see that West Ham are chasing aussie's hero Scott Parker and while Sam Allardyce is looking at trying to take a punt and and sign Joey Barton.

Did you actually read that news report or what?
No, I heard the news break on SSN but I thought I link the Beeb just in case someone questioned the source. Having now read the link it appears Anderson is not in the friendly squad for the games against England and Turkey. My bad Matteh! :)

Not seen much of the guy myself, however, there aren't too many options if they aren't going to play Bridge.

No Bentley  but I haven't seen a Rovers player represent England since David Dunn 02. And your possible midfield has an almost déjà vu feel to it. A feeling which only evokes memories of failure and awful World Cup performances.

Yeah, certainly not the side I'd pick, but according to everything I've read (and that's mainly the Times so I may be wrong) that will be the side, unless he plays Owen as a lone striker

Barry plays in midfield these days though, doesn't he?

I've not seen enoguh of Taylor's defensive play to make my own mind up as to whether he's international matieral. Gun going forwards though

Taylor is certainly better going forward than he is at the back, but that's not to say he's weak in that department. He's certainly more of a direct replacement for Ashley Cole or Bridge than Shorey is.

Fair point about Barry, although he's one of the most versatile players I've seen. Certainly deserves a squad place, IMO.

I imagine the Brazil X1 will look something like this...

Doni
Daniel Alves
Alex
Juan
Marcelo
Elano
Gilberto Silva
Kaka
Robinho
Ronaldinho
Vagner Love

Tom Halsey

Evans, Pique and Foster?

This is in the same way that Djemba, Kleberson, Chadwick, Fox, Taylor, Nardiello (etc) turned into world-beaters, yes?
Leave Evans out of it, Pique and Foster both have huge potential. Of course, no guarantee that they'll live up to it, but it is there.

Having huge potential is an entirely different thing to being a hell of player when they reach their peak.

Anyone remember Richie Humphreys?

Hahaha, nothing much, just scored the winning penalty in the play-off shootout, causing me to cry like a baby and get my hair chopped in the process. :@

Hasn't Shorey been playing left back all season though, rather than flitting between 2 positions?

Why? He's a Sunday League thug. Pick anyone but that donkey turd.

He's like Emile Heskey with half his physical strength, speed etc.
