RIP, a massive loss for football. Definitely right up there with the best of them.BoyBrumby said:From the beeb's site:

A sad loss. Especially in the circumstances. One of the greats.
England's goal was caused by an Emile Heskey hoof upfield which one of Brazil's "defenders" (Lucio, IIRC) decided to kindly backheel straight to Michael Owen - England created very little, and even when Ronaldinho got sent off, we never "hit the wall". The problem was we weren't willing to "hit the wall" - I've never seen a more passionless and indifferent England side. We missed players like Gerrard and Terry (who wasn't as good then as now), we suffered because the manager couldn't motivate a virgin in a brothel, and because the captain was leading by example in being the worst player on the pitch, continually pulling out of tackles to protect his dodgy foot.Scaly piscine said:they were losing to England til England collectively hit 'the wall'
Who gives a stuff what they did in qualifying when they were pretty much nullified in the group stage by 1 good team and 1 mediocre team? You should realise that if you go much beyond 'very good' you get to 'great' and Brazil certainly weren't a great team.Barney Rubble said:Brazil were by far and away the best side at the World Cup, you only had to watch it to know that - and if the best side in the world by miles are only "very good", what does a team have to do to be called "outstanding"? As for Argentina, you don't know what you're talking about - they destroyed teams left right and centre in qualifying, they just had a couple of bad games against some decent teams in the Finals. And you're doing Sweden a severe disservice by calling them "mediocre".

Well, Carlo is the 2nd best keeper in the premiership so they're in a pretty good position to be able to give Cech a rest.sledger said:its a mighty odd game to choose to give cech a rest in i must say, although theyre not really struggling it has to be said.
Chelsea is so much better than last year.Anna said:Another goal.....this time it's Crespo.
Agreed there. The anonymous person has nothing to lose while Ronaldo has so much of damange done to his reputation which means cash losses (spnsorship apart from public trust damage over nothing if he is not guilty.marc71178 said:Why is it only one party that's allowed to remain anonomous?
