That actually has happened with Italian side Parma last season - guys not being paid for ages (and in some cases months) and Spainsh side Real Oviedo about two years ago when they couldn't afford to pay the players and were relegated from La Liga down to the Third Division (which is lower then League 2 in England and is made up of 17 groups, so basically if you end up here you really are screwed).

Now Oviedo got promoted Segundra (sp) B or A last season.
