I know Scaly well enough to think "South Park?" every time I read SP in this thread. I don't bother thinking, I just go with it. :p
He does have some Cartman-esque qualities, yes. Well spotted!

Villareal bidding a cool £17m to take Ronaldo off Man U's hands. Can't see it happening, though. Would be a backwards step when it comes to progressing Man U, especially when I'm confident they could get midfielders elsewhere.
Where did they get the sort of money from?

And besides I thought they were in the habit of only buying Argies?

Champions League Quater-finals draw

Arsenal v Juventus

Lyon v AC Milan

Inter Milan or Ajax v Villarreal

Benfica v Barcelona

Very tough draw for Arsenal and of course a return for highbury for Patrick Vieria. Juve are a dar more physical team than Real and this will cause Arsenal some problems, still they have a chace

Barcelona wil be pretty happy with that but im sure that Lyon will cause AC Milan some real problems

juves suspect performance agaisnt werder bremen show that arsenal have a chance as they did only scrape through on a keeper howler, its not the worst draw arsenal could have got, but if they play as well as they did against real then arsenal have a good chance

After reports have come in that Carrick is demanding to up his pay from £15,000 per week to £50,000 per week, Sir Alex is apparently looking to him as well.

Man U now linked with every midfielder in Europe.

carrick would be a good signing for man utd i think, would add some bite to their midfield which they so desperately lack at the moment.

I don't know exactly how good the Lille midfielders are (who as far as I can see have more newspapers linking them to Man U than any other), but I definitely agree that Carrick would be a great signing, from the few games I've seen him in.

EDIT: I'm also bias towards Carrick as I think that it's good to go for non-foreign players if possible.

I'd give Juventus the edge over Arsenal. They're a better team, more experienced and are more committed to winning by giving your all than Real Madrid. Also, Ronaldo doesn't play for them.

Lyon vs AC Milan will be a good matchup. Hard to pick a winner here IMO but AC MIlan will be slight favourites.

Barcelona will beat Benfica I think. Pretty much assured since Barca's not an Englsih team.

Meh, That's what happens when we you don't score, we deserved what we got.

The first time ever that we've gone 4 champions leauge games without scoring.

I can't see much else we can do, great defense, great midfield, but 4 good strikers who are playing badly.
That simply isnt true if you think they are good in champions league or even premiership standards.

Morientes was a great striker but there is no evidence that he is ever going to adapt to playing the in the premier league.
Cisse is simply poor, his touch is awful and he isnt a great finisher. Maybe the broken leg set him back a long way because he really isnt very good.
Fowler again was a very good striker and may be he will score a few goals but he hasnt been a top player for a number of years and never will again.
Crouch is a decent palyer to have in a squad but he is never going to be a prolific goalscorer.

I agree.

There is no natural finisher in the team. They need Owen back...

Fowler is a much better natural finisher than Owen ever will be.

He's had such a long time without regular football because of injuries that he's not yet fully sharp, but he is getting there.

I will be very suprised if he ever reaches the level that he was at in his first spell at liverpool.

As far as owen concenred i think he gets a lot of bad press. People always seem to be looking to critisize him even to the point when they call for him to be dropped from the England side. He has his problems with injuries but apart from that i dont see why people give him such a hard time he is a very good international striker and he will keep on proving it.

Don't get me wrong, I rate Owen highly, but Fowler is so much a better natural finisher it's wrong to compare them.

From what I've seen, he was beginning to get back towards that level recently, maybe if he stays injury-free and gets a run in the team, who knows?

I always used to think that Morientes was unlucky to be called worse than Raul.....but he's hardly done anything in the Premiership...

I think the problem is that the sort of goal he was so good at scoring isn't so prevalent in England because of the style of play.
