I'm thinking the former. Fergie's IMO the best option at the moment with the current state of the EPL. He's still good although not as good as in the past obviously. Who'd you think could do better? I'm guessing by that criterion Wenger has frailties too right?

Wenger doesn't play Alan Smith as his replacement holding midfielder.

In hindsight he possibly made a mistake selling Vieira, but at least he has midfielders in reserve.

And tell us, when was the last time Ferguson made a good signing that wasn't an obvious one?

Does Ronaldo count?

To be fair though, Mourinho hasn't made many signings that I couldn't have picked myself. The thing is, he can afford whoever he wants so it's easier whereas Fergie has to look for others and he's not really succeeded there.

Park looks pretty nifty and he wasn't well known when they signed him.

1. Man U fans aren't idiotic, we are just very emotional supporters
So much to learn.

I'll restrain myself from saying too much, but suffice to say if you consider yourself emotional as a Man Utd fan, you'd have a bloody heart attack after a season at Fratton Park.

Just watching MOTD. God there's been some comedy goalkeeping this week! Obviously Kelvin Davies wins first prize for rather obligingly knocking Stubbs out of the way to leave Matthew Taylor with an open goal, but Cech, Robinson & Maik Taylor all displayed keystone cops-esque tendencies too.

& comedy refereeing @ Wigan! Has to be one of the worst displays ever: Filan should probably have walked & Fulham should def have had a pen.
And only a couple of years ago they were talking about how the Premiership had the best keepers in the world!

On another note - Matt Taylor's second goal. WOW. 45-yard, dipping, outside of the foot half-volley - I don't think I've seen a better one this decade.

He was if you followed the CL much.

Nothing anywhere near some of the calls Wenger's made over the years, for one he can actually pick a good Brazilian or 2 (Gilberto, Edu, etc.)

No he wouldn't, he'd say he was a Southampton fan as well.

I know you like to give huge credit to Arsenal Whinger whenever possible, but I still think most of the work in picking out these players is done by scouts, not the manager.

Ferguson clearly has to go - any fool can see that. Who to replace him is, to me, the big question. Oh, and Queiroz out too.

Now, I wouldn't mind someone like McLaren taking over (he was being groomed for the next manager when he was assistant here), and I wouldn't mind O'Neil if they go for him, but McLaren is my first choice personally.

And as for the discussion about Mourinho, he's good, yes, but his job is made a lot easier by the unlimited amount of money.

2) Kieran Richardson's an ok left back though. I'll wait to see how he goes against Chelsea before making a judgement on him.
so what if he does have a good game against chelsea, that means nothing at all, as marc says, he isnt a left back.

Mourinho is obviously a very fine manager, as he has shown he can be very succesful without vasts amounts of cash.

As for Oneil i dont think he'll be taking another job soon seeing as he left celtic to take care of his ill wife. Mclaren at the moment would seem like the most logical choice, but sacking fergie would create uproar with some mancs.

As shown by winning the UEFA Cup and Champions League with Porto.

That's clearly obvious. Just highlighting the fact that he's not a terrible one which is what was alluded to in my view.
