Good to see Paul Horton continuing his good form, 2 centuries and 2 fifties in 5 knocks this year.

As said above, Flintoff might not be doing great with the bat but has 7-28 with the ball in the match which is not too shabby at all. Lancs should win from here, we need it as well.

McLaren doing the business this morning - he's got rid of Wood, Voges and Patel for not many meaning that Notts 84 ahead with only 5 wickets in hand. This makes me happy. :)

Somerset: 126
Hampshire: 3-2
In Play Pitch inspectors will be on red alert.
Somerset were just unlucky to be put in on a damp, slightly green wicket (apparently it was impossible to keep the wicket dry after the wet weather we had t'other week).

Anyway, normal service has been resumed with Somerset 198/1 in their 2nd innings, Trescothick 79* & Langer 54* :D

Fair enough - yeah, looks like Taunton's back to its usual old self now!

Dismal showing from Durham's batting lineup this week - barely managed to make 200 runs for the loss of all 20 wickets. Although admittedly they won't be facing Flintoff and Anderson every week.

Yup. Reinforces the point that the selectors have a tough choice for the 3rd seamer next week, assuming Fred plays as indicated by Vaughan. As a sidenote, poor old Harmy managed match stats of 1 for 100 on what looks like a seriously helpful wicket.

Elsewhere, Kent are actually in with a chance of winning, which was unexpected after they reached 5 for 4 in their 1st innings.

Flintoff's excellent bowling to me suggests he is a definite for the 1st test, his batting however perhaps suggests that Langer was not too far off when he cited that he would play him at 11 if he had to..

Haha, I'm quietly optimistic, but at the same time, I could see us having a similar collapse second time round and the lower order not being able to bail the batsmen out this time.

...Of course, even if Kent's top order were to succeed, you can be pretty safe in thinking that our bowlers will probably fail to get the tailenders out. Flippin' Ealham, never should have let him go...

Come on boys, let's get a win here. A season without a relegation battle would be peachy.

Mahmood bowled alright too for Lancashire.

Some trivia, have Flintoff, Anderson and Mahmood ever played together for England?

I'm 99% they haven't in Test, not sure for ODIs though.

Hmmm, Kent need 115 with 6 wickets in hand. Should do it with VJ still there and our depth in batting but I wouldn't like to call it really.

Nah don't rush him, the same questions will resurface again like can he bowl 20-25 overs an innings without his ankle playing up and back to back tests are going to happen. IMO he should continue in county cricket for the SA series in July.

An attack of Sidebottom, Hoggard, Broad and Panesar looks top notch anyways.

From a purely selfish point of view i hope Fred and Jimmy don't get picked for the tests, would be nice to have them in the attack for the next couple of months. England should be able to win with Sidey in the side

Looks like there could be good finishes in several of today's games actually. Will Langer be brave enough to declare overnight with a lead of 326? Successive total of 126, 359 and 559 suggest that the Taunton track is easing a little. Derbyshire 283 ahead of Warks will probably want another half hour's batting, while Essex 123-5 chasing 299 can't afford to lose an early wicket. Kent ought to make the 120 or so they need - if this were at home I might have gone.
