It would be funny if it wasn't so tragic... Think my only sojourn to the CC will be the annual one up to Derby.. Still at least I don't have to support them :D

When you go, let me know - and we'll meet up for beer, pies, pies, beer and beer.

Worcs vs Kent match went to the wire, Kent scraping a draw with last man in Sheriyar facing 15 balls without a run to force the draw, what a chance we had to win that game! :@

Well Kent did chase 400+ earlier in the season so i guess he got paranoid :)
Yeah he was a wimp :p :D (I mean who's even going to try to get 430 in 80 overs!)

He had nothing to be scared of really - Key batting @ 7, Treadwell opening, Smith can't buy a run, Symo hardly able to move - well at least not comfortably, 3 number 11's and not even attempting to kill our opening batsman with a evil bouncer worked as he is a hard nut and came back to score 50+ :p

Pretty poor effort from Kent this weekend and some pretty (Sorry VERY) doggy decisions from the stand in captain.

Fair play to Worcs though they did what was needed and should have won, but in saying so I am impressed with the way the lower order showed guts and determination to get an extra 4 valuble points... we need all we can get after the early season where forfiting our first inngs two games in a row cost us alot of batting points and we "could" have been within 7 points of Warwicks... Hell even top and clear had we beaten Surrey etc.

Oh well back to the OD games tommorow with a squad of 11 to choice from and they say New Zealand have it bad!

How on earth can you possibly not hate anyone from Worcester???

Chris, if that was a serious comment, stop taking the fact that Neil does not rate a few of your guys as an oppertunity to accuse him of random BS.....

And the Bears go marching on with Streak breaking the Championship Record for match figures on debut.

And not doing too bad in the NCL today v Lancashire... mind you Lancashire aren't fielding the best batting line up around with both overseas players out and two youth players coming in, you've rested Streak mind, so he obviously isn't up to all this cricket lark in such a rush :D

Kent meanwhile were destorying Surrey before a good knock down the order suddenly saw them past the 200 mark - Kent now 20/0 so going ok.

I was thinking today, how do people think will be England's Test squad to tour South Africa? Robert Key has put his name forward, but with England having three openers and Butcher can open if need be (although not perferable).

I guess it would be:-

Batsman (7)

Certain: *Michael Vaughan, Marcus Trescothick, Mark Butcher, Andy Strauss, Graham Thrope.

Probable: Kevin Pietersen.

Decide: Robert Key or Paul Collingwood.

All-rounder (1)

Certain: Andrew Flintoff.

Wicket keeper (2)

Certain: Geriant Jones.

Probable: Chris Read or some other 'keeper.

Spinners (2)

Certain: Ashley Giles.

Probable: Gareth Batty or some other spinner.

Fast bowlers (4)

Certain: Simon Jones, Matt Hoggard, and Steve Harmison.

Decide: James Anderson or Martin Saggers.

Discuss.

Is Saggers of Test standard (never seen him bowl)?

Thankfully Rich does not know my exact address.

No use taking an additional spinner if he is anyway not going to play any test match. I would instead take Anderson and Mahmood

Personally I don't think there's any real way we can tell who the back-ups are at this stage - if someone gets an injury and someone else get's a chance they might a) cement a place or b) fail miserably and then fall out of contention.

Thing is I have another spinner as cover for Batty.

I was also leaning towards a 5th seamer, but I then have two reserve quicks. Maybe Mahmood for purely the experience of being in the England Test setup, and on tour with England.

I also gave thought to Richard Johnson, but he seems to be injured all the time which is a shame, and I also thought about Andy Caddick, but it appears his Test career is over.
