Last year was just some magical dream. Batting performing to ability this year and we look dead certs for religation.
Would we have settled last year for the title followed by relegation? tbh I think I would, and we may still be ok if we get a few dust bowls later in the season and Kegga and Keeds can strut their stuff

Yes definitely would have settled for that.

There are a few soso teams in the league so its not beyond the realms we could stay up. At least if we get relegated we'd get a 2 wins from the Roses games again.

Good knock from Ashwell. Patel's off-breaks no problem for him.

Surrey have avoided the follow-on. Another opportunity for Philander to pick up five as well.

Disappointed Foakes couldn't go on and register his maiden first-class century, dismissed straight after lunch for 93, but an excellent effort nonetheless. Essex will be pleased they have gone past Leicester's first innings score and got a lead, albeit a not particularly imposing one.

Lancashire would certainly have taken a lead of any score, they've been forced to follow-on at Edgbaston and are still 347 runs behind and have already lost Moore in the second dig.

Avoided the follow on! Got to celebrate the little things.

Who knows, 50 more and we could still be in the game.
I think they've recovered well from where they were 30 odd for 3. If we can somehow squeeze that total up to 350 we'll have done very well, we need something from the all-rounder Siddy though.

Still there and 111 behind at tea now, good work from the pair. Ought to be close to safety with four session left, in fact with us chasing we may be the only side that can win it from here.

Yeah we needed to make Yorks follow on to stand any chance of winning, much better performances with the bat the last couple of weeks though and looks like Kabir might actually be back to full fitness.

Gripper cutting lose a bit now, he's found a new lease of life since he moved down the order and played more as all rounder.

Only 79 behind now.

Mags tons up, really handy runs.
