As if we didn't know, England can't play spin. Already becoming apparent that if they're to win any of these games, they'll probably need to win the toss and hope things go their way. This is horrific so far, Buttler getting zero support.

Since not watching, read on Cricinfo

Shami, Bumrah and Arshdeep is a lethal limited overs attack.. Hoping that Bumrah and Shami are both fit and in their true form..

Seems to be one pitch that Jos is batting on and another that everyone else is. I suspect the Indian batsmen will be on Jos's wicket.

Bethell no better than the others.

Amongst a whole load of shocking efforts, I think Atkinson's knock stole the show. Managed to keep the strike away from Buttler for 2 overs when clearly he just had to find a single and then a horror shot to finish it.

Likely he got Buttler out

Proven right. 5 #9s after 6.. Need another batsman there.. But no one in squad I think..Bethell got to prove against spin too.
I've watched these players too many times, their strengths and weaknesses are all too obvious. Although, perhaps not to the Selectors. Bethell and Livingstone at 5 and 6 offers no solidity at all. I'd have Smith at 5 with those 2 to follow.

It's also worth noting the runs (and wickets) Root is taking in SA, he'd improve this team a lot too.

It's almost like they're picking Overton at 7 now to try and prove all the critics wrong, well it ain't gonna happen.

Yes, they want the new players to do what Roy Hales Bairstow Buttler Morgan Stokes did.. But it's not working.. They need to change their strategy and bring in more cake..

Also worth noting that India used 3 spinners, a seamer and a medium pace all rounder to bowl their 20 overs. Which begs the question, why have England picked 4 seamers (all of whom are right handed)?

I suspect the toss is helpful, but not to this extent. We might get an even game if England bat second.
