It feels a batsman light, but the only other bat in the squad is Smith who is surely there as keeping cover. Unless we play Overton at 7 again....

With Saqib also available, it's a strong hand of seamers to rotate, arguably the best we've put together in one squad in a very long time.

Joverton at seven seems more likely than Carse but given the brittle nature of that top order, I'd have rather had another batter as insurance given that Bethell and Livingstone will bowl.

India haven’t lost a T20 series to England in last 10 years . Haven’t lost ODI series to England at home in last 35 years.
If we win this series this means Gambhir isn’t the problem and Rohit is the main culprit
If we lose this series then both Gambhir and Rohit should go . There should be no excuse for so many past record being broken .

I'm not an India fan but that's not my take. Surely India were on a downward spiral in tests with the New Zealand home debacle and the extended lean spell of Kohli being compounded by Rohit falling off a cliff in tests from the Bangladesh series onwards. There clearly needs to be a clearout of several players including the two aforementioned from the India test side. I would take it too, that a younger and more athletic Indian limited overs side would likely beat England at home in both formats although it is an interesting England bowling lineup that will reach India.

Yeah, this feels like the best bowling line up England have put out since 2019. The batting on the other hand is not a patch on that and looks a man light.

England have better bowling attack. Hopefully we have harshit and mayank yadav who can add firepower. But this would be good test for english bowlers just before champions trophy

In squad logic it makes sense that Smith is keeper cover but given the way the England camp talk about him - generational talent and so on - it will be interesting to see if they give him his head as a specialist batter, especially with Salt there. The Overton thing is just weird and I see they're doing it in both formats...

And yes what a decent looking bunch of seamers.

Leg spin interesting too. So far most of Ahmed's T20s have been in combination with Rashid, wonder if this will be used much here.

I suspect that will come down to whether the wickets suit 4 seamers or 3. He would be another useful number 8/9 bat of which there are about 5 who fit that description.
