Run out coming for a third when we need to bat time.....Oh dear Shimron.

Awesome throw though.

I assume an openly gay cricketer would have all sorts of trouble touring India, Pakistan and Australia. The abuse would be insane.

Is it just me or is there still a bizarre modern trend of teams being utterly thrashed? There don't seem to be many close matches anymore. This series is going to feature 3 absolute monster defeats.
Were there ever that many close matches? I genuinely don’t know, but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed Test Cricket over the last 12-18 months.

Haven't always followed this thread too closely, but I imagine I'm not alone in having really enjoyed the pitches this series. So, so different to those I remember from the more recent WI home series I've watched, where they've been dead, low, slow, anti-cricket strips. These have bounced, seamed, carried, and now with this one we're seeing a few go underground from back of a length. Makes for very good viewing.

So Gabriel called Root a homophobic slur. Idiot
I understand Root is saying he doesn't want anything done about it? **** came out here a year ago and whinged for six months about things supposedly said on the field. Ali wrote a chapter in his book about it.

Be consistent, ****s.

Fourth innings specialist does it again. Fair play Chase.

Also fair play to Paul for getting out there to let him to it.

Moeen has quietly had good tour with the ball 14 wickets @ 23.85. Leading wicket taker for ourselves, only Roach took more who was fantastic.

Been really impressive since he was recalled. Shame his batting has fallen away, but I guess we need a front line spinner more than a no8 batsman.

It now resembles a typical WI V England scoreline really, post WI's invincible period of course. Historians will now look back and go, ''hey that series was quite close''.

Well played England, that was a solid performance and more what we expected. Still, we were the better side and deserved the Wisden trophy back. I'm relieved that Chase stood up and scored some runs so we ended on a mildly positive note rather than complete capitulation.

This series has confirmed that our pace bowling is in brilliant shape. It was good to see both Joseph and Paul demonstrate the skills they did as a fourth seamer. With Oshane still to come, we are lucky indeed. We learned nothing about our spin options really. Despite Chase doing a job in the first test, I really don't think he is anything better than back up spinner. We really need Cornwall, his continued exclusion is akin to self harm as he's strengthen the lower order batting as well.

The batting is still poor IMHO. They stood up and did enough to put some runs on the board and our bowlers did the rest, but I wouldn't say they were convincing. Chase, Have, Dowrich and Holder is a very decent 5 - 8 but the top order sucks. Campbell was decent enough but will need to learn to kick on if he wants an extended test career. Kraigg and Shai are still in a slump and Bravo really needs some FC runs to get back into form.

Jason Holder is an outstanding leader whilst Kraigg should not be vice captain. His 5 matches in charge have resulted in listless performances.

All in all we have made progress, won a series against one of the big 3 and have an excellent bowling attack. Hopefully we can build on that.

I just posted on Windies IG page that they need to buckle up against quality pace and spin.

They way Kraigg threw away his wicket in the first innings was silly.

Congrats England for the consolation win. I loved that Wood spell. Fierce pace bowling. Fighting fyah with fire.

On to the limited overs now

This test match proved how vital Holder is to this West Indies team. Not only as a bowler and batsmen but as a leader. Brathwaite doesn't seem like a very good leader to me, albeit it is a bit harsh to judge his captaincy in a practically meaningless game for his team (though I'm sure Holder would have inspired a better performance). Windies were dreadful without Holder in Bangladesh as well, and I think his presence is ultimately paramount to the success, and failing that, respectability of this Windies team going forward. Comfortably one of the best all-rounders of this era and perhaps the most understated as well.

Yeah, in a funny way this Test more than the first two underlined how essential Holder is to the side; seem totally listless without him.

Tbh, pre-series thought all the Tests would go how this one did so the talent England displayed just showed how good the Windies triumph was.
