***Official*** England Tour of the West Indies: December 2023

International Vice-Captain
What a ludicrous match. Again, I dont think we bowled particularly well but Phil Salt was hitting back of a length and good length balls wherever he wanted. It was another insane innings.

I don't think we can get away with such a medium paced attack in international cricket. Alzarri or Oshane are a must.

I'll also say it again, Holder is not in this team on merit. Shepherd should be playing ahead of him.

I can't see why Hetmyer can't get a gig. He still has the highest potential of any young Windies bat in white ball stuff

I can’t remember the dates but at least some of May is out of the question as we’re playing Pakistan in T20s.
The 7th championship match begins the same day as that series 24th May. He may also miss the Durham match 17-20 May, although that depends on when they call up their non contracted players for range hitting.

A crazy match. Any delivery that didn't go to the boundary was a good ball 😆.

Unbelievable batting from both sides but hats off to Phil Salt - IPL contract anyone.

Should be a cracking decider.

These types of pitches offer nothing to bowlers...Windies only lost all 10 because they had to go hard...

Not a game I ever want to see again.
There's been a real problem with pitches in the Caribbean for many a year now, even Sabina and Kensington are a poor imitation of what they used to be.

With Will Jacks & Livingstone in the XI, is Moeen Ali still needed for England ? Wouldn't Duckett be a better pick, to make England's batting even stronger ?

1. Salt
2. Buttler
3. Jacks
4. Duckett
5. Livingstone
6. Brook
7. Curran
8. Woakes
9. Rehan
10. Rashid
11. Topley

That would offer 3 seamers (Curran, Woakes, Topley) and 4 spin options (Rehan, Rashid, Livingstone, Jacks). It also allows England's top order to go even harder (!). If the top 3 are doing fine, Livingstone & Brook can come in at 4 & 5, as they did in the last 2 matches.

Salt needs 7 runs in the last match to clear 300+ runs in a T20I series, outside of the world cups I can't imagine that's been done before

Edit - Kohli got 299 and 296 runs in 2 world cups but never cleared 300

So Salt would be the first
He's getting a duck now though isn't he lets be honest.

Hetmyer has not scored an ODI 50 since 2019.

His last 10 ODI knocks he averages 9.90 .

His last 15 T20 knocks he has averaged 18 at a SR of 116

He has also put on significant weight and is sloppy in the field He's not super young he is 26 should really be in his prime

I feel that he is not the same player he was four years ago due to ill discipline a neglect for FC cricket , he's not the only one in that regard though.

One of the great examples of form dipping after finding a wife.
