Does Eng have an obviously better opener than Trott? I feel like he should be persisted with a bit more...

Watching Trott open this series does really show how specialist of a position that is, ok he's been in terrible nick but for Cook to get a few scores, including a ton,, while also having a problem makes me appreciate Cook more.

If an opener averages 45 does anyone think its more impressive then a guy who bats at no.5 and averages 45?

Yes. Openers face the hardest conditions - brand new ball against fresh bowlers.
