The reason Bopara is down the order is because when he came back into the side the top six was settled and there was also more of an emphasis on his bowling, so it kind of made sense to make that clear by batting him at 6/7. That's kind of changed though, with the emergence of Stokes, the part time off spinners getting a good long trundle and people like Luke Wright batting up the order. He has seemed to have emerged as a decent lower order hitter, but not sure there's much point of him playing if Stokes is going to be a regular.

Btw, how ****ing horrible was it to see Wright come out after 20 overs today. Wouldn't necessarily have any issues with him opening up in the powerplay, but after that it has to be down the order hitting. Could've done something really innovative like bring Buttler up to see if he could build a real innings of note, rather than try and prolong an already sinking ship for as long as possible before drowning because the guys above him ****ed up.

yeah agree with all those thoughts. England's batting lineup is all over the place. Could have a good team but not in that combination.

whats happened to Finn, remember peeps saying he would be the best LO bowler in the world in a few years time about a year ago, even if he was rubbish in Tests.

They did an England......just as you predicted they would.
Yup. Right now we're a genuine minnow, and I don't see that changing any time soon given the dearth of talent coming through our wonderful domestic game.

Glad I didn't watch it.

Bring on SA vs Aus for some real cricketers.

Stokes, Buttler, Root are genuine talents. There are also good bowlers in Broad and Anderson and Tredwell etc. And it's not like they're a bad fielding side.

It's the team strategy that needs to be fixed.

It is fair to say they really missed Morgan yesterday, I don't think the batting looks too bad long term.

It is the bowling, outside England, and at the death especially that is the real problem and one that there is no obvious solution for. It would definetly be a help if Finn became a cricketer again.

Broad bottled it massively by bowling part timers rather than himself at the death. Was not the sort of surface on which England should have conceded as many as they did in the last 5.

Moeen getting through a tidy over, just like his beard.

We should bowl 4 spinners in this match, not sure I can ever remember us doing that.

Reminds me so much of the World Cup QF between Windies and Pakistan. Root is Hafeez, Parry is Rehman and Tredwell and Moeen are Ajmal.

Only the second time England have bowled 4 spinners in an ODI after a match in Sharjah in 1985. 1000 nerd points to the man who can name all four on that occasion
