Needed that from Swan but no less than I expected from SL today. They battled bloody hard and were so close to a great day which would probably have won the series for them. Nice one Swanneh, not bad for a rubbish spinner is he?

Need an early wicket in the morning and it could be all over quickly. Have to say Mahela has been sublime this series. Showed his true class, a joy to watch.

Have to say with the Dilshan dismissal it just shows that ICC need to get their arses into gear and say that all the technology is used in ALL tests worldwide or none at all. It went against SL today, could easily have been the other way round but there was absolutely no way the 3rd umpire could overturn the original decision even if gut feeling was it was probably wrong.

Hotspot isn't a cure for cancer, tbf. Sometimes edges don't show up on it.

It's just speculation as we'll never know now, but even if Dilshan's edge hadn't shown up on Hotspot I still don't think it'd have been overturned. One cannot say, hand on heart, there's clear air between bat and ball. Front-on cam suggests edge, stump cam suggests none. Original decision stands whichever way it went.

Btw, I don't recall quite so much bunching of knickers with Samaraweera's (non-)glove to Cook in the first innings. Same principal tho; inconclusive, orig call stands.

As most of you will know I have pretty strong opinions on UDRS/technology myself but it does become irritating when it takes over a tour thread, so if you could take it to the official UDRS thread, that'd be tops.

Reckon anything over 130 will be ticklish. Batsman will be walking to the crease with a big, **** off sign saying "FOUR STRAIGHT DEFEATS" in their mind's eye.

Plus side is Herath can't bowl from both ends.

I gather that Bell's already hiding behind the sofa.

In terms of time:
SL last an hour or less = easy win for England.
SL all out around lunch = arse nipper
SL last until mid-afternoon = England have to survive three hours with half the SL side around the bat
SL last until tea = bore draw
