England surely fear him more than Mathews, who doesn't seem to have much game intelligence. I have seen Angelo dawdle more than once when SL has needed quick runs. I have also seen him throw his wicket away mindlessly on more than one occasion when his team has desperately needed him to stay in and develop a partnership. He is a very sound batsman and I rate him, but I reckon Chandimal is something special and should play at 6 ahead of him. For me Mathews is an ideal solution to SL's opening problem.

Mathews deserves his place. Before the SA series he did very well against Australia and decently against Pakistan. The SA series wasnt good but neither were any of our batsman barring Thilan, and even against Aus and Pak, the batting was struggling.

I do agree Chandimal is something special and therefore I would like to see Mathews opening in place of Thirimanne. It seems like a sensible idea as Mathews is a more natural player of pace bowling than spin bowling, and he could try and play a kindof Watson role at the top. But if I had to choose between Chandimal and Mathews in the middle order, currently Mathews deserves his place ahead of Dinesh.
