We need to bring in a proper batsman... it's different if it's just a one-off for the next match, but there's no point at all playing four seamers and Swann when we get back home.
I'm thinking something like this as an ideal:
1) Cook, 2) Strauss, 3) Trott, 4) Hales, 5) Bairstow, 6) Prior, 7) Broad, 8) Swann, 9) Anderson, 10) Finn, 11) Panesar in the SC.
That's three seamers; IMO most sides would struggle to consistently get past 250 against such a bowling attack.
In England I agree that another batsmen might be included in the best team in place of Monty, although I can easily imagine Monty being picked against SA who sometimes struggle against spin and are mostly RHBs.
I just feel that Finn almost demands inclusion because he has become so awesome of late and with Broad and Anderson pretty much guarantees you can control the batting side even if you lose a critical toss.
Harsh on Bresnan in particular given how well he's done with bat and ball but I believe that he should be used as cover - the unluckiest 12th man in the world! - and as a guy to keep the pressure on the three frontline seamers.
Still counting on Broad to prove his stud status today and take England over the line...
