While i realise he's now doing his best in this partnership. Without those dropped catches we'd be well in touch now.

edit. Out now anyway.
More stupidity. If you think Monty is deserving of more blame than someone like KP, who has not only failed miserably for the seventh time on the trot, but does not even look anywhere close to fulfilling his primary function of contributing with the bat, then I don't think you understand how this game works.

Panesar is doing his job. Yes the dropped catches were unfortunate, but I've seen Pietersen drop something like seven chances on the trot in a Test series before without getting the stick some here are giving Monty. But of course people like having a conveniently odd-looking and un-athletic scapegoat to pick out, when it saves them from having to think.

Looking at some of the strike rates, did it seem England made a conscious decision not to get bogged down against spin like their embarrassing displays inthe UAE, or was it just those blokes got some dross bowled to them and put it away?

I think the english bowlers just looked really pissed off after slaving in the field in broiling heat, that the batsman had collapsed like the virtue of Imogen Thomas, as soon as some footballer looks at her. So they just went guns blazing, they're probably a tad pissed off this winter. The Lankans score on this pitch was sub-par, our innings was like me hacking around Peble Beach.

Is every body still pretending that England is just going through a bad phase. This is the most useless English side I have seen in sub cont since Gooch 92 side.
Batting wise, they're even worse than the 1992/93 outfit. And I never thought I'd say that.

yeah broad looks pissed
Can't blame him, can you. Fourth test on the trot he bowls his rocks off in unforgiving conditions only to see the tarts bat the top of the order show no interest whatsoever in applying themselves.

An interesting tidbit on TMSofa.

Apparently Broad, after getting an LBW turned down or a dropped catch or something like that, rather than having a rant as he used to more, focusses his attention on the top of the stadium to try to channel that energy.

Nah ****. Another five years of the long haired girl getting cheapies off the half back flank.

Jess Sinclair >> Brett Deledio.
Sinclair was such a DT gun.

Meanwhile Lids is playing midfield this year ya ****.
Surely you have Dustin Martin? He's a must this year considering he's a forward/mid.

Come on Benchy lift your game.

Stop speaking gibberish.

Who are these World XI quality players you're bringing in?

Are you insane?

We have a number of top order players who are averaging in single figures or low teens over a number of Tests in SC-like conditions - and regularly being shown up by tail enders like Anderson and Swann while they're at it - and the best you've got is that none of the youngsters coming through looks like being the next Viv Richards or Brian Lara?

The way KP, Bell and co have been playing, they only have to be approximately as good with the bat as Jonty Rhodes to be a marked improvement.

And please don't bring me inflated averages in response - someone like Bell as far as I'm concerned is a high thirties average guy and KP a low forties man in any sort of representative era, and if you want support for that contention see how they've performed of late whenever confronted by any sort of meaningful bowling challenges even in this age of (mostly) clusterf**kers runfests.
