*Official* England in South Africa

Wouldn't imagine you'd have got much satisfaction from England's win aye Scaly. After all, as you often write, it's just another meaningless one-day series right.
The performance was encouraging and I'm obviously happy Colly did well. It is about individuals in these meaningless series. Seeing off donkeys like Mahmood is important as is guys like Morgan and Trott making it and finding a role.

It wasn't such a surprising result; the saffers didn't look that strong on paper. They also haven't set the world on fire lately in this form of the game and their bowling looks particularly weak.

Well Mahmood's clearly only in as replacement, and in all honesty the cupboard is quite bare in terms of back-up seamers. Add in Broad for him and Swann for Rashid and the bowling looks much stronger.

Then it's only a case of getting rid of Prior and the team doesn't actually look that bad even if Flintoff never returns.

Is Sidey buggered then? No world beater in the limited overs games, but I'd have him above Saj any old day.

I think England have a pretty well balanced side at the moment, with the right style players in the right positions. Trott and KP in the top 3 are both capable of using the early powerplays effectively, Collingwood and Morgan at 4 and 5 are both adept at nudging and nurdling, should any form of re-building be needed, yet both can finish the innings giving England momentum with some lusty blows. Prior, Wright and Bresnan can all make use of a batting powerplay and finish the 50 overs strongly.

As for the bowling, there may still need to be one or two tweaks, but for the moment I'm reasonably happy with the options and different styles available in the XI, and yes that does include Mahmood for now.

Swann, Flintoff and Broad for Bresnan, Rashid and Wright not only adds some formidable batting depth, but along with Anderson, Collingwood and Trott gives a potent, well balanced bowling attack.

Albie might get the chop this time around if Morne comes back into the team. If he does, I'm not sure who should play at 6. Probably McLaren but his batting isn't that up to snuff in my opinion. I'd probably take a gamble and play Roelof there.

"I like to invite the winning captain, Andrew Strauss, to accept a cheque for 15 000 rand"

Well done CSA, Im sure a 100 pound winning bonus for each player really excites them
Since when has 15,000 rand ever been equal to 100 pounds? It is well over 1000 pounds..

Looking forward to being back in SA for our only international game this year in Port Elizabeth.. Imagine I will be too wasted to have a clue what is going on..

I'm from England but moved here a while back.. I've lived in Centurion, Grahamstown and now I live in Summerstrand next to the boardwalk in PE.. Most of my friends go to VP, Alex and Grey High School.. Where in the Karoo you from? I used to work in Oudtshoorn and have some friends from Principia..

PE and CT is generally home to the worst weather in the world.. Apart from the north of England I guess

I usually do the same in Port Elizabeth walking out to the car..
Coming from PE I know what you mean. Is the band still about? I am in PE on Sunday but wont be at the cricket as the rest of the family can't afford it. Do you support the warriors? Used to have the best team ever in the days of Amm, Rushmere, Wessels, Richardson, Pringle, Baptiste (to name a few)

I support the Warriors although I have a bit of a spot for the Titans as I used to live up there.. Am a Bulls fan too which never goes down too well in die Baai.. The band are still going there going strong, I usually sit on the grass in front of Castle Corner..

What annoys me about cricket in PE is that we consistantly churn out the best support, and we consistently get overlooked for international games.. Whereas if you live in Midrand you get about ten on your doorstep every year
