Hopefully just a bit of ring-rust. Can't be coincidence that all the batters who failed (Tres, Butch, Thorpe & Fred) were the ones who skipped the ODIs.

Jones has done even less in Tests. Anderson was looking a lot better in the Tests against WI than he had the previous 6 months or so. .
to the statisticians, yes. to those whove watched both of them bowl,no.

The whole point of Jones being picked initially (as in for his debut) was because of his pace but I haven't seen any of that pace since his injury in Australia.
since then hes been picked for his ability to reverse swing it and the fact that he offers something different from the rest of the attack. with anderson we've got another hoggard, except hes not even half as accurate.

36.2 Morkel to Vaughan, OUT: Tried to drive, got the edge, the swing
beat him, safe hands by Puttick, not gonna drop that at 1st slip.
Vaughan goes for 26
looks just like several of his other dismissals this year.

Yes, 7 overs, 1/31. He must be really shattered. 8-)
I can always hope that Harmison finally loses his touch vs South Africa. It is about time he does!

But he is a quality bowler and people who would jump and say he isnt havent been watching their cricket.

Egnland 225 and Langeveldt scalps five.

Harmison 5 overs 26/1. SA A is targetting him to shatter him apparently.

Only Strauss managed a fifty.

Hopefully this is a sign of things to come..
Yes hopefully South Africa will beat England.

We really needed at least 1 more week and another 3 day game, i have a feeling we're gonna get tanked in the first test and only start to find form around the 3rd test...far too late :(
Key must be loving it.

You really do wonder about the intelligence of the people at the ECB who agreed to this itinerary. Compare to when SA last toured England, whenthey were given two 3 day games plus the NW series to get acclimatised.

As for Key, it's becoming hard to see how he can justifiaby not be picked. In fact, given the form of most of the bats and the likely lack impact of Giles over there, I wonder if they're considering playing six batters followed by Flintoff, the WK and the 3 quicks.
