I'm surprised he can have appraised Anderson's pace given that Broad has barely let him out of his hutch all series.
Such comments are the way to get Anderson performing at his best. We'll need a good bowling performance as Root is bound to get out cheaply in both innings now the series is won.

You going this weekend?
Nope, prefer my couch and big screen tv and cheaper drinks. When stadiums start offering proper seating at a decent price I will attend till then I prefer to watch on the tv.

Have tomorrow of so a nice day of watching cricket.

Nonsense really.

I'd be pretty pissed off with Anderson if he could have been performing at his best before, but he feels the need to be personally insulted before really trying.

I'm exaggerating, but I do think he becomes more determined in the face of insult. An extra 1% from anger brings out that extra sharpness in some sportspeople.

It's a bit like when Richards sledged Gavaskar when the former decided to bat #4: "Man it don't matter where you come in, the score is still zero!" then Gavaskar proceeded to score 236* (his highest test score). Jimmy claimed that the Jadeja incident in 2014 got him bowling better than he had in the Sri Lanka series.

Sounded like a whining **** tbh. Hope it works.. A confrontational us vs the world attitude can help sometimes.
The trouble is it's a bit late for that, they've lost the series.

I'm really not a believer of being confrontational in press conferences to show you mean business on the field.

Yeah, it isn't really about trying better it is about finding the extra 5% that you can't unlock without a vendetta.

Didn't AB say England don't have a good enough batting line up to be ranked No.1? A weird thing to say when the 2 guys with the most runs in the series is the English all-rounder and wicketkeeper then we a have a guy currently ranked No.2 in the world and also we have the leading run scorer for an opener in Test match history, not bad considering most of them have never batted in SA before.

AB should concentrate on getting his big bash contract for next year as has been reported and not worry about England. I hate sore losers.

Rather stark contrast to ab's comments, now if only he could get fit and stay fit.

I'm not going anywhere - Steyn - SuperSport - Cricket
Really happy with this interview. I was really getting concerned about Steyn. One thing I have to point out though, I am not sure why he plays so many ODI games especially the bilateral ones.
I didn't see the point of Steyn playing those 5 ODIs in India and the NZ ODIs before that.
The difference in value added between Steyn and the next best replacement (probably Abbot) in 10 overs is much less than the difference in same value in Tests.
And all this for an ODI series that most people won't even remember after a few month?
I can understand that all South African players have a great desire to win a global tournament, so fine with World T20, or Champions Trophy or WC, but playing all 5 ODIs or all T20s of a bilateral series at this stage is an overkill for Steyn.

Yeah I doubt it works that way at all.

I don't know why people make such a big deal about such comments. It happens in every series. Players always say things like these, it could be a out of part jealousy, part trolling, part telling yourself and the press (who are on your case) that you are up for the challenge.

Edit: "Their batting is not 100% best-in-the-world material. The bowling line-up is very experienced but some have lost pace over the years but they're very smart and very skilled. They're not unbeatable."

I don't see where the insult is to be honest. Anderson is a bowler who is very smart and very skilled, and he doesn't rely on pace to blow people away. Never has.

I`m not in Pretoria but from what I can see it seems classic Highveld condition... Hot, creating overcast conditions with a build up of Thunderstorms that may last an 1h. Probably have the thunderstorms mid morning and later afternoon 4/5 o'clock. What I`m hopefully saying is that we should not lose the entire day... but I think that there may be lots of swing!

Yeah, it's a nice day in Jozi, with some clouds, but they're pretty high. It feels like it'll get quite muggy later, so there could be some swing.
