Groundking
International Debutant
Topley has been ace this series, now I'd we can only get one of Amla or Ab in the next 5 overs well be in a great position, need broad to step up haha.
How did Bangladesh do in the U19 WC final today?England back to usual in ODIs. Funny thing is that all 10 of their 11 batsman can hold a bat, yet they get bowled out like that. Even that ODI series win over New Zealand, you still lost 2 games in process, and also still lost the ODI series to Australia (3 games lost) so why are people saying England have become a force or something in ODIs? good luck in tours to Bangladesh and India where you are most-likely to lose. Anyway, the great thing about England v South Africa in ODIs is that they are usually entertaining contests. Their head to head is neck and neck.
TBF de Kock has been awesome for them, and Rabada is definitely part of the new gen.Up to the old firm to do the business for SA, yet again. Some things never change.
If Eng win this, oh boyEngland back to usual in ODIs. Funny thing is that all 10 of their 11 batsman can hold a bat, yet they get bowled out like that. Yeah, De Kock has been brilliant, no question. Du Plessis hasn't quite kicked on as expected though. And the less said about Duminy/Behardien/Wiese and co., the better. With a longish tail, they just cannot afford a brittle middle-order as well.TBF de Kock has been awesome for them, and Rabada is definitely part of the new gen.
Nah, that's nonsense. How can a whole middle order be feast or famine by nature? If that's truly the case, then they need to bring in someone more consistent (hint: Tames Jaylor) rather than just accept it.I'm surprised that people are so gutted that we've finally turned the corner. This is what was supposed to happen against NZ and Australia after the World Cup and we've had excellent performances in ODIs for nearly 12 months. Our middle order by its nature is feast or famine.
I'd rather have a tough few ODIs now then peak long before the next World Cup.
Agreed the goal should be to always be winning and not just to perform in world cups.Nah, that's nonsense. How can a whole middle order be feast or famine by nature? If that's truly the case, then they need to bring in someone more consistent (hint: Tames Jaylor) rather than just accept it.
I also strongly dislike the notion of a side 'peaking too soon'. A good side can dominate for years.
Never has a good side dominated for years that's what great sides do.Nah, that's nonsense. How can a whole middle order be feast or famine by nature? If that's truly the case, then they need to bring in someone more consistent (hint: Tames Jaylor) rather than just accept it.

That means dropping the captain. It took years to do away with Cook and Morgan doesn't look like falling on his sword...If that's truly the case, then they need to bring in someone more consistent (hint: Tames Jaylor) rather than just accept it.
That usually requires a bunch of ATG players coming through at the same time a la Gilchrist, Ponting, Warne, McGrath with very good players in support. The only player that look like a diamond is Joe Root maybe Stokes and Buttler.I also strongly dislike the notion of a side 'peaking too soon'. A good side can dominate for years.
Nowhere near good enough given he's batting low enough to snag not outs.Yes he was 29 @ 101 SR last year and 28 @ 123 SR this year (ie this series) - I think that's what you'll get generally and obviously get a hundred now and then which will push things up.
Eh? Since when is batting low(ish) good for batting average in limited overs cricket?Nowhere near good enough given he's batting low enough to snag not outs.
He's also blocking Buttler from batting in his proper position.
