It's about time the ICC stepped in, these pitches are ridiculous and unfair to England. There's no way you'd get away with pitches like these in county cricket.

Yet Strauss and co described the wickets like the one he played on in England!!

Embarassing for Pakistani cricket. 18 wickets in a day! That is ridiculous.

To be honest it should be embaressing for the so called "potential number one team" of the world.The Englishmen struggled not because of messed up pitch (as suggested by some fans here) but becsue of lack of application shown by their batsmen in the matches (as stated by Strauss). Tres scored a ton in the first match and England are doing better in second innings, which shows that runs are possible on the pitch if batsmen really applys themselves.

And ppl shouldn't really talk about Pak A batsmen struggling on the pitch, because really the kind of batsmen they have, they would really struggle on any pitch.

I know the psychology of English Nation.In the past, when their batsmen didn't have talent to play the reverse swingers of great Sarfaraz Nawaz & googlies of legendary Abdul Qadir,they used to blame umpires for being unfair with them.In 1992,when their batsmen had no answer to reverse swingers & yorkers of the two legends i.e Wasim & Waqar ,they started propogating through their media that the 2Ws r ball temperers (now in 2005,when their bowlers have didturbed many australian batsmen with the same art,they have been given the title of "great bowlers" by the same English media).In 2000,when their captain saw the series ending in no result,their captain accused Moin Khan to have intentionally slow down the over rate .Now in 2005,when they see their batsmen having no answer to the bowling of Yasir Arafat,Najaf Shah & Mohammad Asif,they r accusing us for preparing sub-standard pitches.I think every individual of the English Nation should write an application to the ICC that whichever country their cricket team visits,the pitches should be prepared according to their own wishes suiting their batsmen.

As for Vaughan's injury, if it does keep him out of the 1st test, the squad's lack of alternatives in the top 3 is going to look rather silly. Ditto Strauss' paternity leave in the final test.
