i doubt shoaib will be too much more devastating in england than he was in this series. Naved will be quite a handful especially if he hits the right lines and length consistently. but if by some miracle sami is still playing then, England should consider themselves quite lucky.wpdavid said:I wonder if they will. Shoaib & Naved will enjoy more helpful conditions just as much as the English attack, so unless our batters show a bit more discipline then we're going to see a lot more low scores from our boys.
you have to look at the kind of wickets you play on. what most people fail to remember is that the major reason Australia have been scoring quicker is because they played half their tests on the flattest wickets in the world where the ball comes onto the bat nicely. In the subcontinent, most of their players toned their game down and batted sensibly, something which england havent done.wpdavid said:As for the olde Aus comparison, I know they've scored quickly, but that's basically against the moderate attacks that make up test cricket nowadays. And, even allowing for that, their top 6 just don't throw it away as often as our guys have done. They do have a"Plan B" when circumstances demand.
Yup. He made 98 in the 3rd test in 1987, which was largely forgotten after the events in the first 2.BoyBrumby said:David Capel one of them?
Yes, absolutely spot on.tooextracool said:you have to look at the kind of wickets you play on. what most people fail to remember is that the major reason Australia have been scoring quicker is because they played half their tests on the flattest wickets in the world where the ball comes onto the bat nicely. Exactly. We're going to hear an awful lot about how different it will be in England, but unless we address the glaring weaknesses that have been evident in this series, you wouldn't bet against Pakistan doing the double over us.Beleg said:Pakistan hasn't lost a test series in England since, hmm, early 1980's?
Interesting, when people talk about Pakistan being stronger at home; I have always felt that they play better overcease, specially in the last 15-20 years. (excepting Australia, of course )
