Anyone noticed the ammount of 'bottom edges' that have accounted for so many batsmen?

Playing excessive cross-bat shorts on this pitch is clear folly and yet the Pakistani and Englishmen continued going after the short-pitch/good length stuff without a worry in the world.
Pietersen won't last long then
:p

Interesting day. Saw a bit of it at the gym and it was a roller-coaster; raining sixes and fours from Afridi, Inzi gets past 100 in a fantastic knock, run-out controversy when he was then given out when not, Bell claiming a catch that wasn't, England on the back-foot after some excellent bowling from Rana.

Almost as good as the Ashes.

:D

For the last time, it wasn't a bloody mistake. It was a perfectly sound decision, well within the Laws.
I contemplated putting "" around the word mistake, but feared attack by the English. Unfortunately I forgot about you. :(

Incidentally, I've been a big fan of Rana since he did well here in Aussie and I never really understood the criticism some people here level at him. Hopefully now he's back in the side he'll show just how good he is. Certainly, he's off to a good start. :)

I loved Afridi's twirling around on the middle of the pitch. He's a real character, and should be commended on his complete insanity. It will be unfortunate if he is banned, because that was a great effort.
I reckon that just makes it quits, and that they should get on with playing cricket..

He's a very good cricketer, and I think he receives plenty of praise on these boards, particularly after the VB Series as performing in Aust. is generally what is required for one to be rated by Australians (Watch Bravo and Ramdin elevated now ;)).

However to be fair to the critics of Rana, his declining hair line makes him hard to take seriously.

Couldn't agree more, I think he's a far more reliable and consistent bowler than akhtar.

Okay, but that doesn't compare to deliberately trying to create a rough patch on the centre of the wicket does it? A bad decision is a bad decision and it is regrettable but try to tell me Afridi just got a case of the boogie woogie fever and wasn't looking to gain an advantage?
Actually, now that you mention it, I wouldn't be too surprised if he really did just get a case of the boogie woogie fever. He is a bonafide madman, after all.

Just came back from dropping off my Ma and found out Tresco is gone. Yippee. I also missed Afridi's audition tape for 'So you think you can dance', all I have to say to that is he either extremely stupid or a cheat.

Afridi (and maybe Bell) might just get fined his match fee.

In this day and age, it makes a refreshing change to see a bowler deliver the ball with a straight arm.

I havent been watching the game but if afridi did what has been suggested he did, this will be a test of ICC and its umpires.

There has to be deterrent and exemplary punishment for this. Nothing less. And I see nothing funny in this. It is a complete disgrace.

Pakistan board would set a great example if they were to suspend him for a period as punishment from within. This is what is required not every one defending their own and criticising others.

Let PCB make a beginning and set a great example for others and shame ICC for its laxity so far on such matters.

Must be catching... Pietersen had it on the way off too...

That's the thing though. A bad decision is a bad decision. Yousuf's was a bad deicision, I accepted that. Inzamam's however was a clear violation of cricketing rules.

Re: Afridi's incident. I didn't watch it, but If it sounds as bad as it does, ban him.

luckyeddie:

The fault is equally distributed between the three umpires. All of them had enough time to realize that the evasive action clause applied here and yet none of them did anything.

Yeah, one of the best limited overs matches I've seen was in Adelaide when Rana single-handedly took the game away from Australia A when it looked like they were surely going to win against Pakistan. The crowd was really behind him in that match, with quite a few Aussies shouting cheers like "we love Rana" and "Rana's better than Shoaib". There was also "Rana Rana Rana, oi oi oi, Rana, oi, Rana, oi, Rana Rana Rana, oi oi oi". Quite good.

One of the best things about Rana is that, like many Pakistani bowlers, he can pull wickets out of nowhere with some massive swing and spot-on yorkers. A good many of his wickets are bowled.
