*OFFICIAL* England in Pakistan 2024

Johan

International Debutant
How Root has got 150 I will never know. He was out on his feet on 87. Lots of buffet bowling today but this pair have been gifted their last 30/40 each.
a combination of grit, skill and pakistani incompetence, they're not trying to take a wicket and Joe is stubborn.

Darwin Award

U19 Vice-Captain
A few years ago Root smacked 228 against Sri Lanka in Galle & then backed it up 3 weeks later with a fantastic 218 against the Indians in Chennai.

Will he bag the 'Asian Hat trick' of doubles hit in just a few years as well?

Without looking I'd imagine there is a chance Brook will be the leading English scorer ever in Pakistan by the end of this series. Particularly if the pitches remain like this.

He already is the leading runscorer for England in Pakistan , next best is David Gower with 449 runs who is commentating in Pakistan funny enough.

Root's off side game doesn't suit batting no3 but still reckon he was stuffed a bit by the conditions-related timing of the experiment. Certainly more of a no4 but don't think he's as bad a no3 as his average there suggests.
Nasser pointed out that opening is a much different role in Pakistan, where the pitches often do nothing and there is no swing, compared to England where opening is one of the hardest jobs in cricket, considering the number 3 is one ball away from being a de facto opener, the same is largely true
