Phillips batted 5 on Test debut in Australia and made a patient half century at a strike rate of 45. His Test strike rate is massively higher than his FC strike rate too, of course at a much lower average.

He has to take personal responsibility for some of this **** of course but he's been managed horribly and this role is a total waste of his batting talent.
