So it did not happen the route I expected (four early wickets but then England go big with substantial fielder assistance), but the end result of England scoring 500 for a big lead, is about what I expected after our middling 350.

It's the seamy NZ road bowl-first script.

Pitch still fairly good for batting, but England get help from scorecard pressure and any NZ exhaustion from time in the field. Very important session, NZ want the middle order to come back fresh tomorrow rather than bat tonight.
