***Official*** England in India

India A squad has been picked:
Suresh Raina (capt), Shikhar Dhawan, M Vijay, Abhinav Mukund, Manoj Tiwary, Robin Bist, Ashok Menaria, Yuvraj Singh, Ajinkya Rahane, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Irfan Pathan, Ashok Dinda, Vinay Kumar, Parvinder Awana
Vijay and Mukund to open. Middle-order of Rahane, Bist, Tiwary and Yuvraj. All four bowlers and Saha play. Yuvraj to play as a spinner. This match is likely to be played on a seaming wicket, given the absence of spinners in the India A side. Really unusual, and possibly smart.

They obviously just don't want to give England too much practice against quality spin before the series proper.

Yuvraj to take at least 5.

Tiwary also has an international 4-fer  Was a great day iirc. Kohli 100 in another boss chase etc.

Raina, being the captain, surely must be somewhere there..

Fans would say he should be somewhere else. Somewhere other than five-day cricket.

Anyway, they can alternatively have Rahane and Mukund opening, then Raina, Bist, Tiwary and Yuvraj. If Yuvraj can send down a huge chunk of overs and play as a full-fledged spinner, he can edge out better Test players for that number six spot- wait, Chet, Kohli and Rahane are in anyway.

Loving the fact that India haven't picked any spinners for tour games, hopefully the other 2 tour games don't contain a spinner either. We should do this for the following tour as well when Australia come around.

They'll have a headache of sorts if Yuvraj takes more than five wickets in the match.

Sorry but it's a completely arsewipe-ish thing to do. If you're going to do pathetic petty things like that then why bother having warm-up games and A tours? Preparing warm-up or A tour pitches that are completely alien to what the normal pitches are is similarly the act of an arsewipe. It will just lead to petty retaliation and teams having warm-up and A tours in different countries to those that they're touring.

Unfortunately it doesn't surprise me in the least that there are people who aren't not only failing to condemn, but actually coming out to support these petty acts.

Cricket should not be stooping to this sort of level. Nobody is suggesting India give England a look at the Test bowling attack, but they should be treating touring teams and the game of cricket with a greater degree of respect than this. If this sort of nonsense is acceptable where does it end? How about sending England off to the crappiest facilities? Spike their food? Steal their equipment? Hire bands to keep them awake at night?

Hyperbole much? India are fully entitled to put whatever team on the park - why on earth would they give the oppurtunity for the batsman to get a look at how much the ball's spinning, is it fast or slow spin etc.

Because that's the whole point of touring sides having warm-up games. They're for the benefit of the touring side. It's gamesmanship at best and it belongs in other sports, not cricket. You expect a certain level of behaviour and courtesy.

Yeah I gotta agree with Scaly here.

Doesn't mean its not funny that they're not playing spinners  But it is wrong.

I don't think it's that bad tbh. Yes it's somewhat unpleasant that they're going out of their way to hinder England's preparations, but they're just trying to give themselves the best possible chance they can to win the series. After all, did England give India an early look at what it would be like facing Anderson, Broad and Tremlett at Trent Bridge by sending them over to Taunton in mid July for their warm up?

And you never know, it might come back and bite them in the ass if all of England's batsmen get lots of time at the crease and confidence in the bank. One of the issues in the UAE was that Bell, Morgan and KP all failed in the warm ups.

That line can be used for any unsporting tactic though.

Scaly is right, the whole point of "allowing" touring opposition the chance to play tour games is for proper practice. Otherwise, as Scaly also said, you could just intentionally prepare pitches completely unlike what they will face in the tests, you can give them ****ty locker rooms etc.

Nah, whinging about the type of attack the opposition is putting out is ridiculous.

Tour games are about getting confidence and getting into form ahead of the series, who cares if they're not playing a spinner.
