Fair enough. I guess we will see. I won’t be mad at the emergence of another class spinner. Is this the reason you’ve decided? Stokes saw a video package of him bowling to Alastair Cook and they went from there. It would be hard to describe him as inaccurate yesterday as he got his line spot on.
I’m not saying he’s going to be our best since Swann or whatever but I also think you’re reaching the wrong conclusions.
But you’re wrong. India hasn’t lost a series in India in a decade. And even away, they’re winning way more consistently than they ever did. And they’re continuing to win despite often having significant injuries (eg last tour to Australia). So when you say international cricketer, you’re talking about players from SL, Bangladesh, etc etc. They’d fancy their chances in India? Come on. That’s ridiculous. Maybe the top few sides have a SHOT, but precisely zero sides would be the favorites in India. Zero. None. Find me some odds that say otherwise.Yeah coz that is what I said. Learn to read before posting dumbass stuff.

I think you’re confusing opinion and fact. It may be your opinion that India SHOULD be underdogs at home. But the fact is everyone who actually makes those odds for a living always has India as the favorites at home, and most times heavily so. You could make a lot of money if you strongly believe that your opinion is fact, by simply playing those odds.I said it about Aus and Eng in the last year. It's obvious they should have. Your deluded thinking does not mean a fact ceases to be a fact.
You do understand "fancy themselves" doesn't mean the other side is underdogs right?I think you’re confusing opinion and fact. It may be your opinion that India SHOULD be underdogs at home. True but is there anyone at home who can actually play that role? You're never winning in India averaging what Eng have in their first innings in this series. Their over-aggressive approach has created the illusion that they're running things close but in the final reckoning India have outscored them on almost every occasion this series, inexperienced side and all. Eng might still pull the current game out of the coals tomorrow but realistically Bazball isn't a sustainable approach in these conditions if you want to consistently make 400+. And if it isn't, as seen in this Test, then Eng are in a bit of a hole of their own making because the side they've selected isn't cut out for gritty old-school occupation.
Not sure what that means. I may fancy myself getting a century against Bumrah and Ashwin but you know. It ain’t happening. If your only point was that professional cricketers have self belief, then sure. Ok. Fine. You do understand "fancy themselves" doesn't mean the other side is underdogs right?
They've not bazballed in this test though. Been some good old fashioned runs ground out slowly. Their approach gets too much attention (both positive and negative). Even though it should've been close to a 150 run first innings lead, 50 is still a perfectly healthy lead on such decks. You're never winning in India averaging what Eng have in their first innings in this series. He'd have been perfect for this test especially the chase tomorrow, let him drop anchor and let the others do their thing.W.r.t the number 4 position, I wonder if selectors have informed Pujara that his international days are done. Guy's slogging away on the circuit hoping for a recall while we've been carrying a 30 year-old turkey in a live series. Even as a band-aid, surely he would've contributed more, just by sheer experience and stickiness.
They were 112/5 at 5 rpo though on the first morning with at least Pope and Bairstow getting out following the usual party line. It took orthodox Root and strokeless Foakes to help them along but ideally you want that sort of dour application throughout your batting order in these conditions. Which I'm not sure the likes of Crawley, Duckett, etc are capable of.They've not bazballed in this test though. Been some good old fashioned runs ground out slowly. I think they'll give Patidar another game if we close out the series tomorrow. He'd have been perfect for this test especially the chase tomorrow, let him drop anchor and let the others do their thing.
But nope we could see Patidar in early ffs.
Yeah but that's the thing, they do have a few personnel who are capable of dour application. Stokes can do it to , he just happened to get two difficult balls. It's a better combination of aggression+traditional batting than people give them credit for. This only applies now because Root has stopped trying to reverse ramp 140kph balls over the slips though I do admit. They were 112/5 at 5 rpo though on the first morning with at least Pope and Bairstow getting out following the usual party line. Guy's had a shocking test so far apart from that useful innings with the bat. Going to have to make up for it today.I just saw Robinson's shot from yesterday. What a ****ing muppet.
