Just don't like what Root is doing here. Bowling flat darts, presumably because Stokes knows he can't afford to leak runs. Pretty comfortable easing into the innings for India

Also @sledger Foakes being completely ordinary again buy nobody mentioning it
He has one of the lowest catch percentages , not great at DRS reviews and isn't amazing with the bat ..I'm not convinced his keeping makes up for that but it's an unpopular opinion..
He's a touch overrated for me.

Bed time, can't justify staying up to watch Joe Root bowl 92km darts with the new ball while his side is 153 behind none down

Root’s shot was awful, but when he tried the same kind of thing in the Ashes, people were saying it’s a breathe of fresh air…
I think it is a safer shot in England. Pitch is likely to have more even bounce/ pace and 99 times out of 100 the bowler is looking to bowl his stock ball on a length.

That being said, I'd disagree with the sentiment of your post anyway. Maybe in that first summer against NZ we were happy to see anything different regardless of results, but I think it's time for Root to shelve that shot until he's 150*.
