In the 20 Bazball Tests, Root has 5 tons (out of 30 - 137 Tests) and an average of 52.6 (3 runs higher than his career). He's also picked up 20 wickets (total career only 65) at 3.5 runs better average than his career. This obviously doesn't include the 5-8 either.

It might be painful for us to watch him at times, but he's actually doing better under Stokes than he has his entire career.
That last sentence could end: ....actually doing better than when he was captain.

Root didn't go out their and hit out cause bazball, he did it because his thumb/hand was ****ed and he didn't trust his defense. Smith did the same thing in the 2019 ashes after jofra smacked him in the head the second time.
That would make sense.

kinda annoyed that root is scoring so many runs at the moment since i ****ing hate the reverse scoop thing that he plays (i hate it when australians play it too: see inglis. also smith when he missed it nine down against the windies. cop that. you deserved to lose the game after that shot)

?

He nailed that shot for six
oh yeah no you're right it was the uppercut after (a shot [and poster] i have a lot of respect for) he missed wasn't it lol
i'm tired. either way the point stands that he deserved to not win for having done it😅

As opposed to TOTAB who batted at Lord’s with a broken thumb in 1985, gritted his teeth, knuckled down and made 196.

Exactly. Which is why the new approach under Stokes and McCullum has ****ed him over.

Yeah I am concerned. His "Bazball average" is still high because he made some big scores in the first series under Stokes and has been getting steadily worse. He's definitely badly out of knick just now, need him to turn it around, Bazball or not.
