*Official* England in India 2023/24 #CryMoreTour

Cricketer Of The Year
and somewhat well hidden, as in I went in maybe 10 mins ago, load of headlines about women salary, bouncers, NZ, Hartley, Jacks, Lewis, Rohit, Sackin, retiring quartet, emissions etc, (reeling off the cricket home page) and no sign that England lions were even playing!!!

not sure re mackem "Parkinson giving a good account of himself" will be viewed as highly by selectors, two lower order batsmen for the A side 1st innings, ER doesn't matter heaps in Tests so not bad SRs either innings, but relatively speaking better than some fellow bowlers, not that impressive compared to eg Potts.

can't see it securing him an India Test tour in the future, maybe why he's been fringe for so long when really given the (lack of) competition ought to be in most subcontinent touring parties if much kop
bcci.tv also has a live feed.

It's Callum Parkinson not his brother Matt. This is his first time in the England setup and he's taken 4/102 in his first proper Lions game.

I call that good going even though i've not seen the wickets yet. The set batsman he got in the second innings, could well have just been gift wickets.

From the scorecard it also doesn't appear to be a spinners wicket. I'm more interested from a Durham point of view anyway as he's signed for next season replacing his brother who was on loan to good affect last season.

I just went home page - sports - cricket - live scores... Had to scroll down a bit to get there but navigation did not seem to take many clicks at least.

Useful to have the Lions tour at the same time ish. They will be a bit more prepped than
the test team, who have no warmup games at all it seems. With Jennings Lees and Bohannon
all doing well, England at least have some backup for the inevitable test failures, although
as JL are both leftys, they'd probably struggle vs Ashwin if they got past Bumrah and Siraj.

Seeing how successful Ashwin has been for India at home [and he took 25 wkts vs Oz last
winter], its odd that England chose a complete newbie as their only specialist offy. Presumably
Root will be doing a lot of bowling.

I'm quite pessimistic about this tour, if the pitches are similar to last time, it could be 5-0
to India; anybody think england can win a match or the series?

Cricket > Scores & Fxtures but then right at the bottom:

Parkinson at least out bowling Carson. Thought the latter was highly rated - in cricketing terms - just tempremental. Didn't he kick out at someone?
Callum was of course in the same successful under 15 side as the current Lions captain. Both born in Bolton.
Also in the same u15 side were Haseeb Hameed, Dearden (ex Leics), Saqib Mahmood and Callum's twin brother plus Mark Waddington who went onto play professional football for Blackpool.

Didn't Carson and the former coach Ian Salisbury get into an argument? I'm sure I heard a rumour it involved Salisbury's daughter but maybe that's just gossip.

Gutted for Sai Sudharshan. Guy is clearly a next level talent and should play for the national side across formats soon. Seems to have a very level head on his shoulders too which is rare for kids of that age.

Something like that. Can't remember the details, but think the daughter used to go out with Carson.

The test series will just be a low scoring spinfest. The big achievement will be if any test goes to a 4th day.

Winning a match, yes. Perhaps even two matches if they play well. However I can’t see them winning the series. Do not expect many draws.

I think Bazball (batting) will make this series significantly more competitive than otherwise. England bowling in these conditions is significantly inferior to ours but our ****ty batting lineup will reduce that advantage somewhat. Jadeja/Ashwin/Axar better be ready for some extensive salvage/repair operations with both bat and ball. Any chance Pant will be fully fit?
