I would give it to Hartley ..
I know it's an ATG knock from Pope but he's toured India before and had success at FC level ..

Hartley is a 24 year old novice who nobody really had faith in outside the people who picked him, even more so after that first innings performance where people were on his back ..

To comeback from that mauling in the first innings , outbowl Ashwin , Jadeja and Axar on Test debut is incredible..

We also got to factor in that he scored 57 extremely valuable runs with the bat and had a run out so that's 9 wickets , 1 run out and 57 runs .
That's worth more than a double hundred in my opinion.

I've unfortunately had intercourse before but does that mean when i eventually do a good job my experience should count against actually going down on to the fish market for the first time in my life?

I still can't figure out why Ashwin and Siraj tried to come down the wicket and try to slog one.

Very odd given the position fo the match. Batting sensibly could have brought a different result.

A really good team performance.

Crawley and Duckett didn’t pull up any trees but there was no 10-2. Pope enough said. Root had a quiet one with the bat but first innings bowling kept us in the game. Bairstow useful runs first innings. Games over by day two without Stokes first innings effort. Useful second innings from Foakes and a few stumpings. Hartley, enough said. Rehan will bowl better but batted well. Leach was Leach. Quiet one for Wood but kept it tight.

Go on England!

Depends in your taste of fish tbh ..
I reckon bowlers sometimes get hard done by in these awards. If Pope gets it great but I would personally have Hartley since its his debut

Ojha was the last real craftsman and spinner India ever produced anyway. That guy could do anything as long as it was done poorly
