Particularly good batting effort when you consider how much better India's bowling was on the whole.

delighted for morgan.

hopefully some of the chumps who give him a tough time about not singing a song about invoking a non specific deity to rescue a bunch of tax sponging royals **** off.

The difference between the two sides is Jadeja I think. England would kill for an economical middle overs bowler

Morgan's captaincy has got to be under the microscope, IMO.

England have pretty consistently conceded huge totals since he's taken over. He lets the game drift from good positions far too often, and doesn't look like he has a clue what to do once a partnership is set.

I think it's less to do with his captaincy and more to do with the fact that England have decided to play 11 batsmen and be happy with whatever bowling they provide.

I think this has been well covered recently as not being the case. Which English bowlers should be playing ahead of the ones in the side?

I kinda think Morgan got it wrong. You couldn't really afford to take his time as he did early on his innings. It really amped up the pressure on the rest of the middle order and made it almost impossible for the middle/lower order. Imo he need to take a few more calculated gambles early on. It was a reasonable innings in a very tough chase but it didn't really give them much of a chance.

Anderson and Broad, I know this is an unpopular opinion but can anyone seriously claim that they are not the two best English bowlers? I will also have Finn/Jordan/Wood over whatever nonsense Ball is supposed to be doing.
Also Moeen is a riddle, he doesn't really have the strength to slog sixes in the final overs, doesn't get consistent chances in the top order and is a joke of a spinner. If he is the best spinner in England then just play a pacer or a better batsmen.
In addition you can not expect Stokes to be at his best in batting if you expect him to bowl 10 overs, if you are playing him as a bowler/batsmen send him at 7, if you are playing him in the reverse role then expect only 5-6 overs out of him.
So essentially my point is not limited to the fact that England aren't playing their best bowlers, they are expecting them to perform the role of pure bowlers while still maintaining their batting forms - only one of these things is going to succeed unless your name is Kallis.

If England can find some good bowlers before the CT, they are going to be virtually unbeatable. What a line up!

Whatever it takes!!!
Yeah you put Anderson and Broad into this side in English conditions and you got a champion side. Hard luck for them. They were not at their best and yet not so far from winning both games. Amazing that I now find myself becoming a fan of an England ODI side after years and years of crap.

I think my problem is that Morgan wants to play like the lynchpin of the team. But in reality it should be Buttler (and Root). Morgan has kinda been worked out at international level. He's ok but he's been surpassed by Buttler and Root. Buttler is the class act -and the batting needs to be built around him. BUttler hovering at 6 says to me that they don't quite trust him. BUttler should be getting the experience at 5. He doesn't have a brilliant record when chasing but coming in at 6 and 7 the game is often nearly gone. Have him come in at 5 and dictate the game. Needs to be getting that experience for 2019.

BTW England are 3 - 21 in ODIs in India since 2006 and are even at home, somehow they just don't match up well enough to India in ODIs.

Buttler has stunk it up this series everytime he's got a chance to build an innings. 6 is the position for him imo. 5 max.

I actually think this is two excellent one-day teams going at it with India nudging marginally ahead. You cannot complain with an England which sets 350 or comes within 16 or so runs of chasing down 380 really. Hopefully England can get something from the dead rubber as 2-1 would seem the fair result for these two teams. The England One-Day team does not deserve the same level of criticism as the Test team.

India or England would be a good punt for the Champions' Trophy.
