2nd Test Match
at the Cricket Web Oval
Cast your minds back to a week ago...
The Cricket Web XI, facing a task of survival on the fifth day of the first Test, crumbled against the quality of English pace bowling.
There was drama all around... a bit of misfortune...
0.5 Hoggard to Mørk : That's a loud shout!!! There's the finger! He's not happy about that, Mørk. He reckons he hit it. He glances up at the big screen on his way off, and he's justified. Not the start the Webheads needed...
...but fortune favours the brave...
8.5 Hoggard to Goff : BANG! He's had enough. Goff just smashed that one over point without any regard. No foot movement, just brutal aggression.
...alas, even the brave sometimes fall...
16.5 S Jones to Goff : He's knocked him over!! What a delivery! A fast reverse-swinging yorker with a ball less than 17 overs old. Fabulous stuff from England. Cricket Web in tatters - it's 60/5.
...and although the prelude may change, the final scene of the script remained the same...
27.2 Hoggard to Wright : That's popped up off the pad! Simplest of catches for Bell, and that's it! England take the first Test, and Hoggard has 5!
...but now we move to the second act of this 5-part play. The Cricket Web XI have had time to regroup... to examine themselves. Now they prepare to face off once more with Michael Vaughan and his world-class outfit. Many questions. How many will the home team be prepared to answer...
Welcome to the CW Oval for the second Test match of England's maiden visit to CWLand. The visitors are up 1-0 in the series and remain the firm favourites to take the series. What more do the hosts have to offer?
A few minutes ago, Phil Tufnel was with the captains in the middle.
Phil Tufnel: Michael Vaughan has called heads.
And it falls tails.
Phil Tufnel: Well, Brendon, you've won the toss, what are you going to do?
BG: We'll bat first. The pitch looks great. Looks like a lot of runs for the taking.
PT: Michael?
MV: We'd have liked to bat first, but the boys are rearing to get out there either way. Lots of confidence in the camp.
And now we're ready for play to begin. Mørk and Young are walking to the middle...
