A big congratulations to Thomas on opportunity to field against arguably the best test side in the world. :) Oh, and g'job to our ever-reliabable captain, too. ;) Seriously, I hope everyone in the team really kicks some ****. Go CW!

Edit: This mean I can't get a game with the Colts?
When you consider that Colts lose least to Internationals anyway and Cunningham is I believe not available for any games the rest of us aren't (up to the day of the Test), it's hardly a big loss.

Come on Marc. There's no real need for this comment. He was simply asking something...sheesh! :@

Colts don't have a game that day, Marc.

From the time the squad is announced, they are unavailable. Unless otherwise stated AFTER the 1st Test all contracted players will be unavailable for matches on the 2nd and 3rd of October.

All players EXCEPT those specifically named will be available for matches on the 5th of October.

Unless otherwise stated after the 3rd and 4th Tests all contracted players will be unavailable for matches on the 7th and 9th of October.

The 12th Man will be released on the first day of each Test and is able to compete in Dev League cricket on that day.
Does contracted in this sense mean contracted and selected in the first XI, or just generally contracted? And is it central contracts or all contracts?

And I was just pointing out that other players are being treated a lot worse in that situation.

Contracted and selected.

In a slight error of scheduling, the Colts actually do have a game during the Test. (You people should check the schedule once in a while!)

Thus, Alex Blackman of Cricket Web Black (no game - I'm certain!) will be the sub fielder.

Never has a Cricket Web team entered a series with such confidence - 2 Test wins on the trot. Now, the XI faces its toughest challenge since the Season 4 tour of Australia. England has arrived on Cricket Web soil.

The Englishmen - arguably the best team in the world - takes on a nation still trying to find its feet at Test level. An epic mismatch some may say, but surely there's no better time for the CW XI to face this test of fire and brimstone, with the Champions Trophy and World Cup fast approaching.

England vs Cricket Web XI
First Test Match
at the PDV Dome

Welcome to the PDV Dome for coverage of this opening Test match to what is sure to be a fascinating series. Fresh of a maiden series victory, in Sri Lanka, the Webheads are keen to tackle the Ashes champions.

Michael Vaughan's men breezed through the warmup game carelessly, and would hope to increase their intensity heading into this first Test. The bookies have little time for CW in this series, and there's surely nothing to lose.

Interviewed earlier, Kevin Pietersen (who has ginger streaks in his hair for this series) claimed he's targeting David Kennett when batting and Neil Pickup in the field. Neil Pickup responded, "Kevin who?" In a related story, Tony Blair has announced that he's ashamed of Neil Pickup.

Let's head down to the middle for the toss. Michael Vaughan has called HEADS.

Martin Tufnel: And it fall heads. What's the plan, Michael?

MV: We'll have a bat. Looks a good, quick surface. Hopefully we can get some runs on the board and have them under pressure for the rest of the match.

MT: What about you Brendon?

BG: We don't mind fielding first. Some might say we were even planning to do it anyway. The boys reckon they've got some good bowling form behind them since Sri Lanka, and we're ready for the England challenge.

Marcus Trescothick and Andrew Strauss head to the middle, as Goff gathers his men for an quick prayer.

And now... let the games begin.

Unfortunate to collapse so badly in the second innings, we showed we can match them but Hoggard just bowled too well.
