*Official* Double Match Day - NZ v Sri Lanka (27th Sept)

Optimistic implies you are hoping he can repeat something he has done of note. Errr, he hardly has a decent record.
This year domestically he has pretty much doubled his career records in both FC and List A runs.

So 8 years of batting has been outdone in one year.

Has a fantastic domestic record since his injury.

Anyone else enjoying that they seem to be keeping fielding stats for the CT? Thought it was spiffy the other day.

This innings is the flip-side of the same coin as the last one. Stack the top order with 4 attacking players (all with decent averages) and sometimes they come off spectacularly, and other times not.

Also, Vettori on current form coming at the 30 over (ish) mark was a masterstroke.

If he can keep that up for a couple of seasons then maybe he can be looked up as being the messiah you think he is now. Till then he has always over-promised.

Who needs a messiah, we just need someone better than Oram.

Mission accomplished IMO.

It doesn't imply anything, it's just hoping for the best.
Get your finger out of your bum
Optimism is quite different to hoping for the best.

I've got little time for a guy who drops his shoulders any time he gets pasted and can't come back from it.

What NZ is missing is a grafter who can play the entire 50 overs. McCullum is being given that job but is more suited to stroke play. You need a Styris or some one else coming in who assures the team lasts 50 overs because often, you will find that that is the key problem.
