It's not fair. I had to put so much effort into making the NJS News look like it was written by a kid, and you can do it just like that...

Oil Baron invest milions in CWBCC

by Johnny Bravo

Cw's richest man Rich L Taikun (boss of the Oiltech company in CW)
Will invest 20 milion american Dollars or 25 milions in cw currency, in the CWBCC cricket program.
Taikun will invest in a youth academy based in one of the stadiums, including employees who travel to the other stadiums to assist rookies and youth players to develop their skills.
lso the money will be used to make travelling and player call-ups going smoother with the money given.
Taikun has special attention for U-19 'the U-19 is something I think really needs attention, player call-ups in between tours must be just as easy as in the normal CWXI tours, that way they can select FC specialists and OD specialist for the tour games'
no commands of the CWBCC yet. it is expected they will give a press interview shortly.

Rich L Taikun "hoax" slammed by Oiltech CEO
The richest man in Cricketweb, Rich Taikun, slammed news reports claiming he'd invested US$25million in the CWBCC development program.

"These claims are completely untrue," Taikun's spokesperson said yesterday. "Mr. Taikun, a patriot and passionate cricketer, supports the CWBCC, but has made no such donation. We are unsure of the origin of these rumours." The report claimed that Taikun had intended the money to go chiefly towards assisting the young CW XI U-19 program.

Some experts have pinned the rumours on eccentric CW Green leg-spinner, Tarick Weber, who, after enjoying stellar form and first-class MVP honours in Season 9 of the Development League, as well as CW 'A' selection, was omitted from the 15-man squad to tour New Zealand.

"I think he's trying to further his selection hopes, with the introduction of first-class specialists in the squad," said high-flying, hard-hitting sports journalist C.O.M. Monsense. "However, it really is baffling why he was left out of the squad. On recent form, he is the best spinner in the Dev League, and comfortably matches it with the likes of Pickup and Halsey."

Under Nineteen Fiasco

The entire Cricket Web cricket community held it's breath waiting for the announcement of the inaugural Under Nineteen squad to tour New Zealand. When it came, however, there were mixed reactions. Many were disappointed with the selectors chosen angle on concentrating on OD specialists over FC specialists. International paceman David Kennett offered his views to the Media.

"I'm really quite bemused by this decision by the selectors, to be perfectly honest I think it's a stupid move. The whole purpose, in my mind, of the under nineteen squad is to give players international experience, and to deny players who specialise in First Class cricket is a tragic move. We're looking towards the future of Cricket Web cricket here, not just the Youth World Cup, which has been offered up as a reason for this confounding decision. Shame on you selectors, for leaving out some of the best talent in Cricket Web just because they concentrate on First Class cricket. If you were looking towards the future, you'd see that our test squad needs the most development, and to ****** its growth is criminal."

Others have also expressed concern over this move, not surprisingly Tarick Weber can be disappointed by his omission, although many would be secretly glad the controversial spinner has been overlooked.

CHAULKS BAD RUN

CW ODI wicketkeeper Ash Chaulk has not been producing the same form he shows in development league cricket. Team officials believe that Chaulk is still down in the dumps after playing one of his finest innings in the Champions Trophy final only to choke at the end. "He must get over it and take the bowling on" a reporter said. His last innings in the 3rd ODI against the West Indies was disappointing coming in with CW at 5-130 Chaulk should have taken his oportunity but muddled around and was caught bravo of gayle for 17 off 29 balls. Surely he must get back to his best if he wants to retain his place.

Weber Omission Explained

CWXI U-19 selector Daniel Towns has spoken out regarding the ommission of CWLand spinning supremo Tarick Weber from the touring side to New Zealand. Earlier this week, CWXI star David Kennett had slammed the panel for leaving out the FC specialists.

"Quite simply, we were given the funds for 15 return tickets and the CWBCC were looking for a group that could take on an U-19 OD tournament in the future." Towns said earlier today, "We had agreed that Jack [McNamara] had earned his spot as the OD spin bowler and we had also agreed that he would be captain for the series. Beyond that, well, anyone who knows New Zealand conditions should easily be able to do the math."

Towns was clearly hinting at the greentops that the two longer games would be played on. The Basin Reserve in particular is noted for being a very seamer-friendly wicket. Towns also added that while they did concentrate on OD, they did actually include some FC specialists. "Thomas and Cribb in particular shouldn't expect to be playing in the OD games."

Weber has not taken a wicket in his four List-A games this season, conceding 206 runs at an economy of 6.06. His FC stats are however far more favourable - while players such as Jack may have a better round one average, Weber boasts 80 wickets from last season and only Dave Richards is ahead of him when it comes to spinners this season to date (as at round one).

Questions have also been raised regarding the inclusion of players who have played no more than a handful of games this season.

More controversy surrounds U/19 tour to New Zealand
by Gary Gangrene

On the eve of the first ODI played between the CricketWeb U19's and New Zealand U19 two of the star players have opted out of the tour in favour of Development League cricket. Both members in the recent CricketWeb "A" tour to the Caribbean, Bryce Cunningham and James Stedman commented on their decision to fly back home.

"I would like to rule myself out of the under 19 tour. My interests are and will continue to be with CW Green, and of course the CWXI. I feel playing domestic cricket gives me a better chance to achieve my goal of becoming a permanent fixture in both the Test and One-Day International side. I would like to thank the under 19 selectors for considering me in their selections and will uphold any future selection should it not clash with any subsequent CWXI, CW Green or CW 'A' matches or tours." Bryce Cunningham
"I am following the lead set by Bryce Cunningham and am ruling myself out of the u19's tour of New Zealand. I would like to show my full support to captain Dave Watt and the squad at CW Red and catch the first plane back to CWLand. I apologise for the inconvenience and wish my replacement the best of luck.

Obviously I would like to be playing the best standard of cricket possible and I believe that means making myself available for the Dev League match tomorrow. I wish Rob and Thamba the best of luck and now wish to state my intentions of keeping wicket for the Steddingham Jets in his absence." James Stedman

Dauth speaks of disappointment
Reds batsman Robert Dauth spoke of his disappointment in teammate James Stedman's withdrawal from the U19 tour.

"Shocked and disappointed," Dauth replied when asked how he felt about Stedman's decision to pull out of the inaugural CW U19 tour. "I think he's just trying to get a game with the gloves for Red, in the absence of Thamba," he shrugged. "He's pretty cutthroat, that Stedman character, wouldn't be too many things he's not willing to do to get his own way." Seconds later, Dauth nodded, "Even that. :naughty: "

"But otherwise, I'm really excited about the tour. CWLand, for some reason, has an incredibly strong batch of younger players, so I get to play alongside some of the best players in the Dev League. I hope everyone considers the opportunity they're letting go by before they make any decisions regarding their availability," he finished.

Pidgin English "not me", Smith the elder says

Edfield Seahawks star seamer and scantily-clad CW Blues cheerleader Matt Smith distanced himself today from his namesake who signed for the CW Colts this week.

Smith snr, who masquerades as a sports reporter when not moving the ball several miles away from the right-handers in CW grade cricket, contacted Cricket Web media to clear up any potential cases of mistaken identity.

"This young upstart has been giving out interviews left, right and centre," Smith snr said.

"For starters, that's not how Smiths operate. Our name is simple and understated, and that's how Smiths should behave."

Smith snr questioned Smith jnr's education, hinting that some of the stories circulating were penned by the younger Smith.

"He seems about as familiar with capitalisation and spelling as Michael Jackson is with direct sunlight.

Smith snr's job as a reporter has placed him in good stead for post-match celebrations, having learned to casually knock back five pints within an hour of finishing work. He doubts Smith jnr could keep pace, and also claimed the infantile Smith had a lack of respect for the older members of the community.

"Not once have I seen him announce he's off to the rest home to celebrate a win," Smith snr said.

"Those girls know how to boogie - as long as you give them the right pills, and their Zimmer frame wheels are well oiled."
