*Official* CW XI in South Africa

How good are we. Awesome games. Happy with my 90 odd not out and reasonably happy with 30 odd at the top. Dauth and Goff gunned it though and Camps has just been an absolute sensation this series. Top stuff CWXI.

Wow! Cricketweb storming through this series! Excellent results in each game. Much happier with my individual performance, but with Patrick taking wickets I think I'll have trouble keeping my spot.
To be fair, I was a tad expensive, and one of my wickets was Nel. Enjoyed that one though.

Yeah, but I'm yet to take a wicket for the series and apart from this game I've been going for around 5-6 an over. It's all up to the selectors.

Watch out world cricket, the CW XI is gonna tear you apart!!

Any chance of transferring the form to test matches??

A good team effort to be honest - we all worked together to snuff out the Saffies.

2 more to win now - it can be done, dare I say it will be done?

Sixth One-day International: South Africa vs Cricket Web XI
at Bloemfontein

Scorecard
Commentary

Despite a heroic effort from Neil Pickup, Graeme Smith smashed runs against the second-string bowling attack to become Man of the Match and end CW's winning streak in One-day International cricket at a respectable 15. Disciplined bowling from South Africa preceded the Smith assault, well aided by Justin Kemp, Andrew Hall and Herschelle Gibbs.

Cricket Web won the toss, batted first, and looked to be on the way to a good opening partnership with Markus finally back in form. However, he dragged on a quicker one from Pollock, and was gone for 15 once again. De Silva required time to bat himself in, and though his 59 stabilised the innings, it turned out to come at a bit too slow a rate. Goff, Cloete, Crampton and Towns all got starts, but Nel's variation in lines made him tricky to play, and he emerged with credit before Pollock's death spell claimed three wickets.

Chasing 259, South Africa got through the first 15 overs without loss, and things looked perfect. However, Robbins had Gibbs bowled off another inside edge, and when Pickup had Kallis slogging to De Silva near the pavilion, then nabbed Prince and Boucher with three balls, things looked to be going in the direction of a collapse.

It never came. Smith smashed everything short, full, good length, outside off, outside leg, or on middle; Pickup, amid his four wickets, also committed three costly wides, while Camps was off-colour and got duly smashed around. With the seamers off form and Halsey rested, South Africa eased to victory by four wickets, despite only scoring five off the last 16 balls.

Cricket Web XI 258-7 (50 overs)
M. W. de Silva 59, A. P. Cloete 46, B. J. Goff 44, D. P. Towns 43; S. M. Pollock 4-51, M. Ntini 2-58

South Africa 259-6 (47.3 overs)
G. C. Smith 133, H. H. Gibbs 48; N. S. Pickup 4-43

South Africa won by four wickets
Man of the Match: G. C. Smith

Awful effort from myself there, Pickup gunned it. Not happy to be a part of the side that stopped our winning streak. :p

Top match report Vimes. :)

oh great! I come in and we lose!

SR of 71 for me and just 2 fours. this is certinly strange. I had a SR around 80-90 when I first came in season 8. Vimes, do u know what effects the SR? is there any way to improve it?

HODI doesn't have strike rates for players - so I'm guessing it's just that Nel and Langeveldt are too good.

Strange as that may seem.

Excellent series thus far, despite the blip in the last match. A bit of a worry that we haven't sorted our new ball bowling yet though.
