Headline - A captain's masterpiece

[Lahore] A glorious knock from the Cricket Web skipper proved the inspiration as the CW XI wrapped up the three-match series with a 2-0 lead after the 2nd ODI against Pakistan. A career-best 143, the highest ODI innings by a CW batsman, for Blewy anchored a total of 299. Some lusty late hitting from youngster Ash Chaulk certainly helped the cause no end.

For the second consecutive game, the Pakistan supporters bore witness to brilliance from the opposition. Indeed, even they would have found a sigh when Blewy was dismissed 3 balls short of the innings close. His effort was a clinic in powerful strokeplay, exemplified by his charge down the track to Shoaib Akhtar to the first ball he saw from him - four over midon.

This is the 3rd ODI series win for the global team and they now have a shot at their second whitewash.

CW XI v Pakistan - 2nd ODI at Lahore

CRICKET WEB XI 299/6 50.0 overs
PAKISTAN 285/6 50.0 overs

Cricket Web XI won by 14 runs

Man of the match: Blewy

How OUT:
Rich_2001 - beaten for pace and swing.
Bugssy - looking to flick a legside wide from Shoaib, loosing his footing and toppling over.
Cloete - bottom-edged pull.
Blewy - top-edged slog sweep, a mile high but straight up.
Eclipse - caught at deep midwicket.
Marc71178 - edged arm ball.
Ash Chaulk - not out.
Mr Mxyzptlk - not out.

Coach's Comments:
Brilliance. Utter brilliance. Another game and another hero. Blewy needed these runs, following on from a poor Test series and a low score in the 1st game, but more than that, the CW XI needed them. It was a fascinating game, but the team did just enough to get through. On a belter of a surface, there were many positives. The most important to mind is that of Ash Chaulk. It seems we've finally found an ODI 'keeper, though still early days. Of the negatives, the seam bowling continues to be a problem and some changes may have to be made in the near future, but the team is winning and winning well, so ultimately it's all good in the CW camp right now.

Great effort, glad to get some runs, and even better to break my ODI batting record..

Keep working hard team and lets go to bangladesh with a clean sweep in our bags...

Great win guys!

Spectacular effort Blewy! It was a pleasure to watch your innings from the balcony.

I hope the selectors consider the state of the pitch when reviewing bowling performance!

I Dont think the pace bowling was too bad. In the Pakistan bowling innings, Sami took 2 out of the 6 wickets they took. Thats 33.33% of total innings wickets. Mr Ponting and Mr Wright took 3 out of the 6 wickets taken. Thats 50.00% out of the total wickets taken for the innings.

Considering they are in Pakistan and the spin frriendly pitches i think thats a good effort by Wrighty and Ponting.

Pakistan's never been excessively spin-friendly... this is the country that produced Wasim, Waqar and Imran, remember :)

Still, delighted to record another decent return and more importantly to seal the series. If only we could play Test cricket!

Im happy with two wickets. It is possible, certainly to bowl well and only pick up two. Two isn't half bad anyway, i'm happy.

Well it should be today, but the Selection Panel has been very quiet lately, meaning that the same XI may have to play again by default.

Headline - Bugs and Rich inspire!

[Rawalpindi] A champion's showing from the Cricket Web XI wrapped up a 3-0 ODI series sweep of Pakistan, putting the disappointing Test series way behind them. An inspired first change from Blewy saw Bugssy into the attack and results were spectacular.

Brisk medium-pace allrounder, Bugssy ripped through the heart of the Pakistani batting as they, aside from Youhana, fell away mildly. The chase was no less energetic and Bugssy, boosted by his bowling efforts, took apart the Pakistani seam attack alongside the devastating Rich_2001.

Racing along, Rich secured his half-century from a mere 29 balls - the fastest in CW XI ODI history. The sparkling knock contained 5 fours and 3 sixes and totally overshadowed the also impressive striking of Bugssy at the other end. Bugs himself got to a third ODI fifty from 46 balls and then handed off the charge to Cloete and Blewy to seal things.

CW XI v Pakistan - 3rd ODI at Rawalpindi

PAKISTAN 223/7 50.0 overs
CRICKET WEB XI 224/3 34.5 overs

Cricket Web XI won by 7 wickets

Man of the match: Bugssy

How OUT:
Rich_2001 - smashed straight to point.
Bugssy - pulled straight to midwicket.
Cloete - played over a slower one.
Blewy - not out.
Eclipse - not out.

Coach's Comments:
Another extremely satisfying win. That's 3-0 and the second time we've swept an ODI series. Also, it's our 4th ODI series win and second in succession - a great way to enter Bangladesh. Bugssy was spectacular, doing exactly what we wanted our resident allrounder to do. Aside from his fireworks, the most impressive performance in this game was that of Mr. Wright. He didn't rip through the batting, but was solid and composed despite struggling mightily in recent ODIs. Needless to say, he needed to impress and he certainly did so today. Bangladesh, here we come!

thats a great win guys, and to wrap up the od series 3- 0 after a not so good test series really takes away some of the pain for the senior players. know its on to bangladesh to hopefully dominate both tests and odi.

liam can i ask a question, what is first test or odi and if it is test matches do the players that dont make the test side go back into the england a side or do they just have a rest or how is it worked. just curios thats all!

Im on a bit of a lean streak.:( However it will not be permanent and I hope the selectors remain faithful with me. Great win boys!:)
