Great team effort. Pleased with my performance as well, after a slow start to the series.

Cricket Web 'A' vs West Indies 'A' - National Cricket Centre
2nd "Test" - Day 1 - Webbers take 3 in an hour

Just over an hour of play was available on the opening day as a soggy series continued in the Caribbean. But Cricket Web 'A' made the best of that time and took three key wickets to leave their hosts in tatters at an early stumps. Martin West was the chief destroyer with 2 of the wickets, but he should have been matched by Bryce Cunningham but for a dropped catch by Rob Bowen at slip. The man charged with the responsibility as nightwatchman, Amit Jaggernauth survived to go to stumps with his captain, Daren Ganga.

West Indies 'A' 1st innings 25-3 (15 overs)

D Ganga 8*, A Barath 8, A Jaggernauth 4*
MP West 2-15

Day 2 - Baugh and Richardson win day for WIndies

A crucial innings of 100 unbeaten by Carlton Baugh jr. rescued West Indies 'A' from a desperate situation to a reasonable score of 229. The diminutive wicketkeeper-batsman was unusually reserved and valued his wicket impressively in leading the recovery. He arrived at the crease at 70-6 and the dismissal of nightwatchman Amit Jaggernauth. Unlike his more esteemed colleagues, Jaggernauth stuck in nicely for 23 runs. The final 4 wickets went on to cost 159 runs and Baugh did an excellent job shepherding the tail in the afternoon, after he lost the company of Brendan Nash (32) before lunch.

The revelation of the tour, Martin West picked up 5 wickets in the innings, while Bryce Cunningham supported with 3 for 62. Still it was an apparently disheartened Webber side that left the field after the frustrating WI 'A' recovery. At the same time Baugh walked off to the lusty applause of a full house in celebration of his achievement.

Little sooner than CW 'A' began their innings that they were in trouble. Before the end of the 5th over, both openers were back in the pavilion for single digit scores. Stephen Young was under pressure to keep his cool and was joined by Tarick Weber in the nightwatchman role, with over an hour remaining to be played. Just 20 minutes into the final hour, Young perished to a loose drive, a ball after he had been dropped in the slips attempting the same shot. He was furious with himself, and rightly so, and stormed off for 17. Jamee Gray arrived and played a thunderous cover drive before CW 'A' went in for the night on 46-3.

West Indies 'A' 1st innings 229 all out (94 overs)

CS Baugh 100*, BP Nash 32, A Jaggernauth/NO Miller 23
MP West 5-44, BC Cunningham 3-62

Cricket Web 'A' 1st innings 46-3 (19 overs)

S Young 17, TV Weber 13*, JR Gray 9*
AP Richardson 2-15

Cricket Web 'A' trail West Indies 'A' by 183 runs with 7 first innings wickets in hand.

Surprised at being dumped to be honest. Thought I bowled okay in the first test and not sure that 2 spinning all-rounders are necessarily required. Still, hope the boys do well. I'm ****ing off down the pub though.

Why did our nightwatchman come in with over an hour of play remaining?

Just a genuine question, how that works exactly?

Becasuse he's Tarick and is better than the usual nightwatchman. And really didn't want to lose another top order scalp before stumps.

Day 3 - Late blows liven up contest

Tarick Weber and Bryce Cunningham bowled brilliantly in tandem in the final session and demolished the West Indies 'A' middle order after the home side had threatened to run away with the match. WI 'A' had early secured a slim lead of 35 runs and progressed strongly to 98-1 with less than half-an-hour remaining on the day. But the bowlers stuck to their task and a testing spell by Weber paid off with the caught-and-bowled wicket of Devon Smith for 62. That broke a partnership of 71 for the second wickets and set up a thrilling final 15 minutes.

Cunningham removed the nightwatchman, Amit Jaggernauth (0), with a short ball, then Runako Morton thrusted forward and nicked a low catch to Stephen Young at bat-pad. He too was out for a duck. The route was completed for the evening with the dismissal of Ryan Hinds, bowled legstump for a third duck of the innings. Daren Ganga watched on in disbelief at the other end as his good work seemed to fall away swiftly. To his relief stumps were drawn while Hinds walked off the field.

Earlier CW 'A' played well to get a competitive score on the board following a disastrous start to the day. Jamee Gray (9) and Rob Dauth (0) were out to successive deliveries in the second over of the day. The latter was run out first ball and the score was then 50-5. Regardless of the situation Rob Bowen played his natural game and raced to 33 from 16 balls. With his 17th he was yorked by a full slower ball. His partner Tarick Weber continued to fight on from his nightwatchman appearance the night before and looked progressively more organized during a partnership of 46 with Cunningham. At 141 he lost his cool and slashed Richardson to the waiting gully, out for 46, and his replacement Blake Donald (0) joined him in the hut 3 balls later. Cunningham was forced to continued his grafting innings and his skipper supported him well with a rare glimpse of batting form. The final 2 wickets produced 53 runs and Corrin was left high and dry on 25.

There was the early success of Adrian Barath, who continued to struggle, but it was only false warning for the tourists until their stunning late revival. One day remains and the game is intriguingly poised for an engrossing final day.

Strike rate of almost 200 is annoying when I can't even bat for more than 3 overs.
