Super Eight - West Indies v Pakistan
at the WACA

Scorecard
Ball by Ball

Ramnaresh Sarwan played perhaps the innings of the tournament, slashing and nurdling the Pakistani bowlers around to the tune of a sensational 151. The innings took just 128 balls, and its quality was evident in the balance of scoring strokes. Some 5 boundaries and 4 sixes represented superb power and timing, but even more impressive was the placement and running of the West Indies vice-captain.

The knock allowed Chris Gayle and Brian Lara to play with great freedom at the other end, and the West Indies racked up an imposing 339-4 from their 50 overs.

Then, as if to elevate embarrassment to utter humiliation, the West Indian seamers tore into Pakistan's top order with devastating effect. Ian Bradshaw and Corey Collymore bowled impressively and steadily, and as the Pakistani batsmen tried to keep up with the demanding chase, implosion was inevitable.

Wickets tumbled, and the score slipped to 57-5. Only a half-century from Abdul Razzaq truly looked to reflect the quality of the surface, and Pakistan eventually fell for 213.

West Indies 339-5 (50 overs) beat
Pakistan 213 all out (46.3 overs) by 126 runs
Man of the Match: RR Sarwan

Excellent match that. :D Really happy to get some good figures, but it wouldn`t have meant squat if Goffy and Buts hadn`t of fired. Good late hitting by Halsey too and Hoy, Pickup and Halsey kept it very tight. Lots of positives heading into the semis!

Super Eights: South Africa v Sri Lanka
at Adelaide

Scorecard
Ball By Ball

On a fine batting wicket, Sri Lanka recorded their first victory of the Super Eights in a do-or-die fixture with South Africa at Adelaide. Graeme Smith's decision of batting first backfired spectacularly, as he was tied down by Sri Lanka's accurate opening seam bowling and then baffled by a doosra from Muttiah Muralitharan. However, Boeta Dippenaar and Jacques Kallis looked to swing it South Africa's way, as the two added 146 for the third wicket before both fell as victims to Chaminda Vaas at the death. Ashwell Prince and Justin Kemp failed to sufficiently up the run rate at the death, but the total of 262 for six looked a par score.

Unfortunately, a par score was not enough, even with Charl Langeveldt replacing Andrew Hall on the bowling side. It looked promising after Makhaya Ntini bowled Sanath Jayasuriya early on, but Marvan Atapattu and Kumar Sangakkara exploited South Africa's lack of bowling depth to compile a stand of 75. When Charl Langeveldt finally broke it, amid a string of four-balls, Mahela Jayawardene was next to answer the call, putting together 56 runs in a calm, assured innings. With South Africa also conceding 16 extras, Smith was stumped for bowling choice, and used seven bowlers - including himself for six costly overs - and failed to put a stop to Atapattu, who recorded a marvellous unbeaten 106 to win the Man of the Match award. With Chamara Kapugedera scoring a mature 32 with a six, it was an easy, assured victory for Sri Lanka, while South Africa now need to use their five-day break productively after falling a couple of points behind leaders Australia, CW XI and West Indies.

South Africa 262 for 5 (50 overs)
Sri Lanka 266 for 3 (48.5 overs)
Man of the Match: Marvan Atapattu

Website is proving to be fantastic, big thanks to Liam and Håk for all the effort they're putting in (If someone else is helping things out too, let me know).

CW in a strong position, things certainly looking like it'll be an exciting finish.
