Spinners fire as CW XI look to level series
Cricket Web XI vs Pakistan - 2nd Test
Ibn-e-Qasim Bagh Stadium

Pakistan once again elected to bat first in ideal batting conditions, but were met with the fierce spin bowling of Neil Pickup and Tom Halsey. Shahid Afridi, with memories of his domination in CWLand, returned to the Pakistan team in place of the struggling Imran Farhat, as Yasir Hameed shifted up to fill the vacant opening slot. For the Cricket Web XI, it was Kearsley who missed out, as Rob Dauth returned to the team under pressure to perform and in the limelight, given his recent Peruvian misadventures. Having dismissed Pakistan for 247, the Webheads looked to find form with the bat and attempted to build on their impressive bowling performance.

Kingsley who?!
Two surprises in CW XI ODI squad

Perhaps it's just another Andy Cameron ploy, but the Cricket Web XI selectors have sprung another couple of bombshells with their latest squad choices. Relative unknowns Kev Goughy and Kingsley Clapham have been called up for the first time, included in the 16-man squad to play 5 ODIs against Pakistan.

Goughy has represented CWLand at age level with great success, but has no great profile of which to speak. Even so, given the lack of penetrative fast bowlers in ODI cricket for the CW XI of late, he is in with a good shot to move straight into the team with a debut in the first ODI. Clapham is even less known, having played a handful of domestic matches and doing his most noteworthy work for the Toco Flashes in Trinidad and Tobago club cricket. Both Goughy and Clapham were called up to the 'A' team recently as provisional players, and it is clear that the selectors made the move to give them tune-up time ahead of their call to duty in Pakistan.

There are no other surprises in the squad, though Nath Patrick has been discarded. His fellow seamer, Kyle Wright gets a career lifeline and has been retained due to his economical performances in South Africa. Out of favour and out of form fast bowler Dave Watt has also been retained and is expected to continue as the number one seamer in the team.

Cricket Web XI ODI squad (16):

BJ Goff (c), NS Pickup (vc), A Crampton (wk), AP Cloete, I Markus, CR Butler, MW DeSilva, RJ Dauth, DP Towns, TC Halsey, KS Wright, KR Clapham (uncapped), DJ Watt, KJ Goughy (uncapped), LA Camps, MJ Robbins.
