**Official** County Cricket 2017

Usually has been effective at county level though - there is a reason why he's in his 13th season with Surrey.

Anyway, 11-3 now. Young Sam sees off Allenby.

Livingstone gone at Old Trafford - Hameed holding firm on 86 though. A fairytale debut on the cards?

Hmmm, yes, it's starting to look as if the Saffers are going to see them home there! Goes to show, you should never count your chickens (and I was trying not to!) Yes tough chase for Leics, hard to see them getting close to that under the lights.

Will be interesting to see how much Livingstone bowls in the OD comps this year. In FC if he carries on scoring runs he will be there or thereabouts in test selection as a batsman because of the dearth of option. He has flashed with the bat in OD cricket though he hasn't done nearly as much but if he is regularly bowling plenty of overs and doing pretty well he should come into consideration as a potential no 7/8 & second spinner.

Why the **** was Steven Davies given the permanent boot? He was about 24 when he last played for England and looks like an amazing T20 and List A player. ECB, what a bunch of idiots.

Sounds like a terrific game at Old Trafford. Good win for Leicestershire with Mckay, Raine and Ackermann all injured.

I think he was a victim of 'Rule number one' (Python reference)

He probably has been unlucky but we have three keepers vying for selection as it is. I'm not sure Billings has actually taken the gloves for England yet but he should be allowed to at some point. I don't see Bairstow getting much of a go in the white ball formats for a while.

Yes terrific win for Leics, thought they'd had it when Cosgrove got out. Good to see the youngsters Wells and Chappell were able to finish the job. Can't really see the point of deducting one over on DL though.

It appears that today's game between Notts and Yorkshire, both sides packed with internationals, is not going to be on Sky - very disappointing, to say the least.

He's a really good player but he tends to get a lot of brilliant looking 20/30s. I agree with you though he was unfairly kicked.

Has anyone else seen Mark Wood bowl recently? Is it just me but does he seem a lot more classical, more technically correct? I cannot remember this little skip in his run-up that he now employs either but maybe my memory is playing tricks here. He still has that short run-up though so it is not as if he has become completely orthodox.

Hopefully it is just teething problems as he was definitely a shadow of his former self.

They've axed the usual early county championship match also. 2016's (ironically Notts v Yorks also) was a thriller.

Only just learned this from reading the new Wisden, but Chesney Hughes has been released by Derbyshire. Doubtless this was all covered here last year but I find it shocking - averaged 53 last year in the Championship for the weakest county, the one which failed to win a single game. Scored three 100s and chipped in with a few wickets. Meanwhile Ben Slater an opener who averaged 28 has been retained. It's hard to wish them well after discovering that.

Meanwhile, easy win for Yorkshire today in the game of 18 internationals which hardly anyone saw.

Read a lot of comments about him looking down on pace. Anyone seen much of him to confirm?

Pleased to see you've returned - you certainly liven the place up

Notts probably up there as my least favourite cricket team. So many 'big players' that are average. I thought they should of got rid of Samit last year. Had a crap year and having him around stunts the development of their spinners and allrounders. Team needed some freshness after the garbage of last year. Not Samit to turn up fat as normal and casually pull long hops to deep square leg as normal. Credit to Brendan Taylor and Luke Fletcher in that respect - both lost between 1.5 and 2 stone over the winter. I wouldn't be so bothered but Samit never gets dropped either because of his dual role in the team. IMO it breeds complacency in his game and Notts become dependent on the role he plays and other players don't grow as a result.

Wonder how many matches have been won by a brother hitting his sibling for the winning runs, and with a 6 no less. That'll be one for some dungeon dweller at espn to find out.

Good to see also Pattinson proving his doubters wrong with a stellar performance in the LA format.

James Foster not even making the Essex 50 over squad. I thought when they weren't selecting him for four day, they at least have him keeper in white ball cricket.
